Nothing like a night of fun and good laughs at the hotel.
Those were hours where the full moon was shining like a pearl in the blood-red sky. Late hours where the hotel would take its guests out for dinner and enjoy the feast that the staff could bring them. Everything almost for free, in exchange for them knowing how to behave and follow a positive example for their redemption.
There weren't many customers, but there were enough to consider that it was a night with people willing to follow Charlie's dream; and although some were there just for the luxuries, others believed that maybe the princess was right. Although they didn't show it, they felt comfortable in the hotel. There were no threats as there were on the outside, and they practically had royal protection. There was nothing wrong with the hotel for them, unbelievably. Except for one thing.
Alastor, the princess's boyfriend.
As the general host, he was in charge of greeting the guests on stage. He would invite them to talk about their lives, or to participate in certain dynamics by interacting with them. He was even the one who gave the morning messages, "motivational" according to him. Of course, if motivating was to mention the terrible points that each demon had and remark the curses that fell on each demon on the place.
His cold personality in front of the rest, and the eloquent words he would bring out, would make anyone shudder. But still, Charlie decided to give him a chance to be part of the main show at the hotel. It was the least she could give him after he considered helping her organize the rest of the hotel.
At that moment, Alastor was in front of the scenario, being the one in charge to deliver a good show to the demons.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome again to this cursed place. I am Alastor and I will be your host on this night of nightmares."
With Niffty's help, the atmosphere was filled with small fireworks as the customers watched in amazement the pretty ambiance. If there was one thing Alastor had learned from Charlie, it was that a better decorated environment could bring out more honest smiles and surprises. Just the way he liked it.
He began his show by singing and playing a few songs to accompany the dinner. First with some classics from his childhood, and then he continued with some jazz and romance. Every song that came out of his voice and microphone was sweet to the ears of most.
It was better to see him at the front of the stage than watching him killing someone or making a disaster outside. Because in the end, what's the worst that could happen with him on stage?
"What do you call a factory that makes okay products?" Alastor asked suddenly after finishing his song.
A silence covered the atmosphere, no demon dared to answer the Radio Demon.
"A satisfactory!"
Well, there was one thing that was annoying about Alastor when he spoke. His jokes.
"Did you hear about the kidnapping at school? It's okay, he woke up!"
Alastor could be a good host, but he had very bad jokes that were just plain lame. He laughed to himself, while some demons tried to fake a laugh to keep the Radio Demon from feeling a grudge against them.
The only one who seemed to like his jokes was the princess. There, sitting at a distant table with Husk and Vaggie, she was witnessing the stage. She watched her customers, and especially how her boyfriend had a good time at the microphone.
She still remembered when he would tell her dad jokes, making her laugh like never before. On every date with him, he always brought a smile to her face. Maybe that's why he started telling her more of those jokes, because what Alastor loved, was seeing his girlfriend's gorgeous smile with joy and excitement.
