"Welcome to Seoul." The flight stewardess announces happily as I walk down the aisle pulling my never been used carry-on behind me.
"Thank you," I smile and walk out of the plane stepping onto the rubber-like floor with the other passengers who are eager to leave.
Feeling excited to start my vacation after I worked tirelessly for months as an ICU doctor. The emotional and physical burnout I felt pushed me to take a temporary leave of absence.
As I step out of the gate, my eyes roam around the unfamiliar place. Smiling, I take out my phone and call my old college roommate Jenny.
"Susie" Jenny screams excitedly.
"Hi Jenny," I say as enthusiastically.
"We just landed. I'm walking towards the exit right now. Are you here?"
"Yeah, I'm waiting for you in the front. Look for a white convertible."
The door whooshes open and the moment I step out, I automatically see Jenny's car.
"I see your car."
"You do? Where are you?" She says and I see her push the door open. Looking around her, I called out her name.
"Oh my god, you're finally here. I missed you." Jenny tells me emotionally as she hugs me tightly.
"I know. I missed you too. It's been what five years since the last time I saw you." Looking at my dear friend with blonde hair swooped into a bun wearing dark auburn pants and a sleeveless black top showing off her slim figure. She adorns her outfit with a simple silver necklace, red lipstick, and black lace-up high heel sandals.
"You look fantastic Jenny. I didn't even recognize you." I say.
"Thanks Susie. I had to dye my hair for the concert tomorrow. You're coming right?"
"Of course," She opens the trunk of her car and I put my bags inside.
As I sit on the passenger's side, I ask, "Are you performing?"
Jenny is a professional pianist. Her family is filled with musicians that she grew up learning the piano as early as 5 years old.
"I'm not. I'm directing the concert." She says and shrugs her shoulders as if it's not a big deal.
"Really? Congratulations Jenny. That's fantastic." I say enthusiastically feeling really happy for her.
"Thank you Susie. I'm nervous as hell. This is my first time directing it. What the hell was I thinking about accepting the job? I don't have any experience." She admits and I see her doubts in her eyes.
"Jenny, what are you talking about? You are talented and I know you worked hard to get this job. I know that the concert will be successful."
"Aww, Susie you're the best. You always know what to say to make me feel better." She states and we continue to chat as we drive down towards the hotel where I will be staying at.
"So, my cousin will be at the concert. I invited his friends but I'm not sure if they'll be attending."
"Yeah?" I ask confused not understanding why she feels the need to tell me that.
"What are you going to wear tomorrow?" She asks deliberately changing the subject.
Shrugging my shoulders, "I brought a simple black dress." I respond.
She shakes her head, and says, "We're going shopping after you drop off your things in your room."
"Jenny, I don't need to buy clothes."
