Chapter 9

"Have you heard about the issue on this neighbourhood?" Jeong suddenly blurted out while they were all busy with their lockers, "Cats keeps on disappearing."

"Really? Why?" Dahyun curiously asked. Jeongyeon motioned all of us to go near her and she whispered.

"Someone keeps on killing them. Several cats are found massacred in different trash cans along the neighbourhood, even in our school."

"What?" I asked.

Jeong nodded, "Yes it's true. Mackenzie and I saw it, she asked the Janitor to dispose of it. It was disgusting and cruel. The cat was toyed." Jeong sadly added.

Dahyun and Seulgi gasped while Moonbyul and I were quiet.

Jeong looked at me, "Beware Kittienne, you might be the next targeted cat." She whispered to me.

My whole body shivered because she sounded so serious and creepy but she eventually laughed out loud. I shook my head, she's very unexpected and random.

I opened my locker and as usual.. letters keeps coming out and it's as if normal for us all to patiently pick it up while Dahyun and Byul will took the liberty on reading some of it. Those idiots.

"Good morning, Macky!" I turned around as soon as I heard Jeong greeting her sister and there I saw Mackenzie who is elegantly walking while carrying her leather bag and a bunch of books.

She stands out despite wearing the same uniform with us. She's stunning that it takes my breath away. It was as if there's a slowmo effect when she looked at Jeong while smiling

The fuck. My heart pumps as if I ran for a whole marathon. I clutched my chest, trying to stop it from beating so fast but it wasn't any help because she went towards her locker and I immediately hide myself to the corner, I even ruffled my hair because I got confused as to why I am hiding from her?

"Kittienne?" I was startled when Seulgi tap my shoulder and she was surprised as well but she returned her signature look, "Why the hell are you hiding?" She asked.

I look back to where the sisters are and I immediately gulped the lump on my throat when Mackenzie and the rest are already staring at us.

"I-- Uh.. I was searching for spiders.. yes spiders." I tried to search on the walls and I immediately screamed when I saw a freaking spider, everyone screamed as well except Dahyun who bravely got it and even examined it, "G-Get rid of it, Dahyun!"

"I thought you wanted one?" She even pointed the spider on my face and I swear my soul left me when I shivered in fear.

Shit. That was just a fucking alibi, I never even wanted to see one! I am very embarassed. When Dahyun decided to free the freaking insect, we all composed ourselves. I cleared my throat and was about to walk out from the awkward scene when Mackenzie took steps towards me.

"You okay?" She asked, her eyes are full of worry, she even held my hand and she's caressing it using her thumb. I nodded and look away, I was really shy because she get to see me in that state. That was absurd! I didn't expect to see a literal spider.

Damn it!

"Mackenzie!" I shouted but she didn't hear me. I saw her going to the abandoned place where I dreamt about me and Seulgi making out. "What is she gonna do there?"

I followed her discreetly, she unlocked a door and went inside. I tried to come in but it was lock so I peep on the window, thank God it's glass.

But it's not clear because it's too dirty, I tried breathing on it and wiping it but it was a stupid move for it worsen the blurry effect on the window. "It's hard to see." I frowned.

"Meow."

My ears pinched when I heard that sound. I immediately look behind and saw a stray cat. I licked my lips and smirked.

"Hey there kitty.." I eyed the kitten with amusement, I looked at its body, its fur.. it's beautiful, "You could pass as a good playmate." I was petting it, it kept on meowing and rubbing its fur on my arm, he looks happy so..

I grab it and broke its neck.

"Kittienne!" I look up at Mackenzie who is smiling from ear to ear, its an unusual sight because she's not like that in public.

"President?" Her eyes darkened but it shifted to an amused look. I was astonished by her moodswings.

Earlier when I disposed the cat near the place, Mackenzie didn't go out of the room for thirty minutes so I decided to just leave.

But I got curious, why is she there? I eyed her from head to toe as I licked my lips.

I remember Jeong telling me that I might be the targeted cat without knowing that I'm behind all of that.

"Do you know, Ms. President." She looked at me curiously as she sit in front of me, she was carrying a tray earlier and she placed it on the table. I  smiled at her sweetly, "You look like a cute little kitty.."

Her eyes lit up and I was taken aback with the smirk she plastered on her face but she immediatelt shifted into a gummy smile, "So am I your target now, Kittienne?"

I placed my chin at the back of my hand while not breaking the eye contact between her.

We both smirked, "Mackenzie Shannon." I whispered but she didn't budged.

She copied me and leaned her face closer, "Kittienne the Cat killer."

We were masking private affairs.. our facades vanished when the both of us darkened our eyes.

"You know a lot now, don't you?" She whispered, "I just happen to see you kill it earlier.. " I giggled cutely.. so the other students would see us, as if we were telling jokes.

I looked at her dead in the eye, "Mackenzie Shannon.. Myoui." And there she lost her composure.
