Sonia was training with the two Uchiha prodigies as usual, but now she might have bit of more than she can chew. For now, she took on both of her training partners not just one at the time as they usually did.
Her eyes were covered with a thick layer forged from rocks with an earth style technique she came up with specially for their training sessions as she didn't need to be caught in a genjutsu casted with the Sharingan. That was the reason why, as usual, she relied on her sensory skills which sharpened with every day. She could already sense the exact direction from which an attack was coming, she could identify its nature quite easily, but she still couldn't get the precise amplitude of an attack, especially if she needed to appreciate that in a few moments. This was one situation when she cursed herself for that. She evaded one of Itachi's attacks, but as she was still moving to avoid that attack, she felt a fire ball casted by Shisui approaching her. She had no chance of avoiding it without injury as she was still in the middle of another evading movement, and she couldn't pinpoint the size of the jutsu. She could cast a water jutsu to cancel the fire one, but that would keep her on the defensive and she was already tired from evading attack after attack. She needed to protect herself and fire back. So, she tried something she rarely used during her training sessions with the boys. Her hands moved and the fire ball disappeared as if sucked into a void. Both Uchiha's remained surprised, but they didn't have long to think about what happened because soon the fire jutsu reappeared and flew in Itachi's direction. Sonia knew she succeeded and wasted no time in using the jutsu Shisui taught her, the jutsu he was famed for, to get behind him and throw a handful of kunais at the curly haired Uchiha. He evaded most of them, but one of her knifes managed to scratch his arm. Itachi managed to counter the redirected jutsu, but he was still surprised. They knew that Sonia was studying fuinjutsu since she was 4 years old, first with Kushina and now with the Hokage himself, but because she never really used it against them, they had no clue that she was so proficient with it.
She used their surprise against them and quickly sent of a huge water wave which she combined with a lightning wave. Now that was one nasty combination, neither of the Uchihas wanted to be hit with so they quickly got out of its way. Shisui who used his teleportation jutsu to escape her attack got the better chance to fire his own attack than his cousin who had to jump away. So, he threw some shurikens at her back and unsurprisingly her sensory skills didn't fail, and she quickly evaded then only to be met with a kick from Shisui. She managed to somewhat block it, but because she wasn't prepared for the hit, the force of it still threw her back a bit. She landed on her feet, and she immediately had to block a hit from Itachi and in no time Shisui was next to her, his fist flying in her direction. She blocked and dodged for a while, but she was growing tired. She had to coat each and every one of her moves in a genjutsu just to make it harder for the boys' Sharingan to anticipate her attacks. She knew that she had no chance to win against both of them and in the end, aided by his teleportation jutsu, Shisui managed to find the perfect moment to land a blow that sent her to the ground. Itachi's kunai was soon by her throat marking her defeat. In a life-or-death situation she could have tried a few risky methods to get away, but in this scenario, it was of no use. The blade was soon gone, and she sensed a hand extending in front of her to help her up.
-You can take that off, Shisui said as he pulled her to her feet obviously referring to the so-called blindfold, she was still wearing around her eyes.
She dispelled the jutsu that was creating her blindfold only to be met with the grinning face of Shisui. She offered her friend a small smile.
-I missed to train like this with the two of you, she said.
They rarely had time to train together. Sonia and Itachi were recently promoted to be ANBU captains while Shisui was leading an elite jounin team that sometimes caried out ANBU level missions. With functions like that they were often on missions, and it was rare for the three of them to be in the village at the same time. The last time they got the chance to get-together was on her birthday, and that was months ago. So, they were happy to share this moment.
They didn't get to talk too much before a small figure run in their direction.
-Nii-san! he shouted as he ran to Itachi. Shisui-san, Sonia-san, the small boy acknowledged them as he got closer somewhat surprised to see all three of them.
Sonia and Shisui waved to the small boy giving him a smile. Sasuke smiled, but his attention was mostly on his brother.
-Were you training, nii-san? he questioned pouting a bit.
Sonia already knew the boy was upset his brother went training without him as little Sasuke always wanted to train with Itachi. When Itachi had time he indulged him, but those moments were rare.
-Yes otouto...
This only made the boy pout again.
-But you said you had no time to train, he whined.
-Sorry Sasuke, he said as he poked his little brother's forehead. But I had this training scheduled with Sonia and Shisui for a while now. But how about I train with you after I get back from my mission?
Sasuke nodded eagerly.
Soon the brothers left for dinner leaving Sonia and Shisui behind. The bluette seemed lost in thought as she watched Itachi and Sasuke walk away.
She was still fascinated how the young child was so happy in his oblivion about the tension between his clan and the village.
-Is everything alright? Shisui question.
-Hmm?...Ah, yes, Sonia said but her eyes remained distant watching as the sky bled red with the sun's descent.
