Sonia was training in the forest as usual. Today Itachi was busy, so she didn't expect any visitors.
She was struggling with some sealing scrolls, trying to see how efficient it was to use weapons stored in one.
She was so concentrated on the scroll that she didn't notice that a person was approaching till they were behind her.
-Sealing scrolls? a voice questioned behind her.
She jumped a little and quickly turned to the source of the voice. She was met with a fiery red heired woman. She was smiling at her.
Sonia's eyes widened as she recognized the woman as the Yondaime's wife. Well, she was definitely not someone Sonia thought she would meet today, or ever. The girl's surprise only grew when the women offered to help her.
Kushina's explanations were more than welcomed by Sonia whom with the help of them wasn't struggling any more with the scroll. The red-haired woman seemed impressed with her, this making Sonia smile.
Sonia was surprised for the third time that day when she offered to train her in fuinjutsu claiming that the girl possessed some talent for it. Sonia was more than flattered by such words and was more than happy to accept. She wasn't sure how to thank the woman for her help and kindness, but she knew that she had to.
After that day Kushina would meet up every other day with Sonia to train the four-year-old. And slowly the red haired woman thought the young girl how to draw up simple seals, how to activate already placed seals and showed her the hand signs for sealing jutsus that didn't require a drawn seal.
Kushina was impressed with her young apprentice. She was so impressed with the young girl that she told her husband about her and their training sesions. This only made Minato curious about the girl and thus he made himself some time to accompany his wife to one of the training sessions she had with the girl.
The bluette was all flustered to meet the Hokage, but this only amused the blonde man.
After observing the training session, he had to agree with his wife, the girl was truly talented. Maybe a prodigy just like his ex-student Kakashi. It was impressive how she managed to pull of seals with little to no effort.
Trying to understand the little girl more he started asking questions about her dreams and about her family. This lead to him finding out that the girl came from a civilian family, with her father being a merchant and her mother a stay at home wife. He grew even more impressed finding out that she was training alone without help from her parents only so she would be able to protect the village one day.
A few more conversations and he found out that the girl was training alone in the woods, and now with his wife, not only because her parents were civilians and would have been incapable to help her but also because her parents didn't want her to be a shinobi even though she claimed it was her dream. He decided that she deserved the right to follow her dream and also, he had to admit, that one day she could become a strong asset for the village. So, he arranged for her to start the academy at the age of six even if her parents didn't change their minds in the following two years.
To Sonia's surprise, when after a few months it was found out that Kushina was pregnant, her training wasn't interrupted but her teacher changed from Kushina to Minato. She didn't really know how to react to the fact that the Hokage himself was training her other than to be thankful for it.

Seven months later things changed forever when in the middle of the night chaos erupted in the middle of the village. Villagers were running around trying to find shelter, trying to reach safety as the enormous nine tailed fox was rampaging in the middle of the streets.
