Epilogue
Perfect Clarity
Setting a plate of bacon and eggs on the table in front of Liam, I lean down to kiss him and he gives me a sleepy smile, pulling me onto his lap. His flannel shirt is huge on me, and for the fifth time this morning, I roll up the long sleeves before resting my hand against his bare muscular chest. Lightly tracing my fingers over his scarred shoulder, my eyes move to the white gold band on my hand and the matching one on his. His arm snakes around my waist, his hand lightly resting on my growing abdomen.
"My husband," I softly sigh.
"My wife," he murmurs back, kissing me.
Even after eight months, the thought still brings warmth to me, and I thank the heavens every day that I was able to keep my promise to Liam. Though his parents and my brother made no appearance at our wedding, Liam's brother, Peter, my mother, and a few close friends were there, filling those empty spaces and showering us with their love and support–erasing all hurt and replacing it with hope.
I no longer work at the car lot or the florist shop in the city. A month after we wed, Liam added another room on one side of the cabin for me, and now I have my own small flower shop. And thanks to Twila–the elderly neighbor who had always checked on Liam in the past–I now have regular customers and the business is continually growing.
No longer ashamed of his face being seen, Liam helps me in the shop whenever he isn't busy building garden boxes. He said being in love had made him a new man. And I assured him that being his wife had completely changed me in every way.
It's amazing how truly blind a person possessing 20/20 vision can be when relying only on sight instead of the vital organ that matters most. Fortunately, my eyes were open enough to recognize Liam's love, and my heart possessed the vision to clearly see how beautiful he is, both inside and out.
For the first time ever, I can truly say my life is full.
I have been blessed.
