Chapter 2

Man from village P.O.V.

I have finally found a village. I have been struggling for a while to find a village, and when I saw the tip of a roof, I sprinted as fast as I could. I needed to raid it before anyone else takes anything. I'm at the entrance of the village gates in a matter of seconds. Quickly pulling myself over, I stumble to the ground.

As I get up, I look around. It seems to be empty, which doesn't surprise me. King Goldrim has been making the habitants of villages leave their homes, attempting to find his daughter. I think her name is Emyrin. I have secretly always admired her, and  I know the truth about her father, the King. I have hated the king ever since I found out, but I can't say much or I'll be killed. Walking to a hut, a rustle snaps me out of my thoughts. My first instinct is to hide, and I follow it. I don't look to see what-- or who it is. After about two minutes of hiding behind the hut, I slowly step out and into the hut I was behind. As soon as I walk in and look around, I am immediately disappointed. I can tell someone was here before me, there's nothing anywhere. I still walk around, hoping there will be something. As I suspected, there isn't anything. Sighing, I start to trudge out the hut entrance. Looking up, out the corner of my eye, I see a tall and slender shape. I quickly glance, and see a woman looking back at me. She has dark brown hair, which is put into a loose bun, with strands falling neatly to her shoulders. She has prominent cheekbones, they are noticeable atleast. For a quick moment, I'm blown away from her natural beauty. Before I can get a better look, she is gone. Forcing my focus away from where she just stood, I look down at my feet. There is a brown leather jacket, a cantine of water, and some food. She must have left it here for me. Even if I only saw this beautiful girl for a moment, I can't help but feel a surge of gratitude for her selflessness. "Thank you," I mutter, knowing she won't hear.
