To Meet or not to Meet

It was early, way too early for my liking. I let out long sigh and rested my face into my hand. I looked around the cozy corner coffee shop looking for the dreaded one but I made unfortunate eye contact with an older woman who instantly looked away.

Only he could bring rise to my resting b*tch face. Five minutes later I heard the arrival bell ring and there he was, striding in like he owned the place effortlessly floating towards my table very well aware of the "take me" eyes he was getting. Another sigh, this was going to be fantastic...

He hovered over me the sent of his cologne wafted into my nose, a familiar sent that both comforted and annoyed me.

"How's it going?" He smirked.

"Oh, I was doing great" I rolled my eyes.

" Mature as ever I see" he chuckled. "-well I'm doing better now that I'm here with you" he winked.

I shook my head "Why have you summoned me oh deluded one?"

"Double Dutch chocolate muffins" he grinned and walked up to the counter.

"Lovely"

Henry Huntington the vain of my existence and the boy who helped me learn to sympathize with all the girls who have fallen for the "bad boys."

But that was long ago. Lessons learned as I won't be fooled twice.

I sat there contemplating on wether or not to hightail it out of there. I looked over at the counter and watched as the young preppy girl with heavy mascara ogled him and flipped her hair. I waited for it and as always I was never disappointed. Like a man possessed he began flirting.

I watched the barista blindly fall for his charm, I smiled on the inside. If only she knew...but who am I to judge.

I watched as he pulled his phone out and he gave her his number. He picked the tray up and started making his way towards me. He gave me a wink when he got to our table.

"I'm sure you'll have fun with her" I said in a half giggle.

"I don't know, she's kinda brain dead." He smiled.

That earned a real laugh "when is the last time you worried more about what a girl had in her head than I between her legs?"

His smile turned dark and a frown formed in his forehead "You know when that was" he said gruffly.

"That was a long time ago Henry, I thought we'd moved past that" I said
with a sigh.

I watched the him square his strong shoulders and the muscles flex under his well fitted shirt as he sat up straight "As the lady wishes" he said while putting in a poker face.

"What's the real reason I'm here Henry?" I asked softly.

"I was wanting to rent out your parents beach house for spring break" he stated simply.

"You know I always stay there you idiot" I said a little annoyed.

"Well you know me always forgetting things." he brought his hand up and pushed a strand of hair behind my ear.

"I know you very well" I said sitting back a little. His fingers had lightly grazed my cheek and a strange spark and knot formed in my stomach. I hated him.

"Was that all? Because you could of asked me that over the phone you know." I said adjusting myself in my seat.

"You wanna go to bed don't you?" He smiled "You've never been a morning person"

"Could you please shut up, I'll be leaving now" I went for my purse and he went for my hand.

"Come on sit with me for a while I've missed you" he looked me in the eyes genuinely.

I pulled my hand away feeling a tinge in my chest. "Fine I'll eat you're stupid muffin." If it wasn't already bad enough that I had to see him again my body had to miss the idiot too. Confusion, I started feeling it seep though my bones. I had to pull it together and regroup.

"Go on bite in" he said mid chew

I gave him a bored look and took my anger out on the muffin. "Happy?"

He smiled "Yes."

It was pretty delicious but I wasn't going to admit that to him. The chocolate chunks and the warm moist chocolate muffin were perfection.

"How did you find out about these anyways? You always have your assistant get this for you"

"People change, don't you know that?"

"They don't change they slightly adjust, they are always the same person. So unless you've been in an accident and it fixed your brain, then I doubt much has changed."

With a light snort and swallow he looked at me in consideration. "Someone's cynical" he laughed.

"Yes I am."

We ate in comfortable silence cleaned up and made out way to the parking lot.

"Hey wait up" he said jogging towards me.
"What is it?" I crossed my arms and leaned up against my car.

"This was nice." He smiled

"It was okay."

He leaned closer to me and put his arms on either side of me "Just okay"

I just looked at him coldly "That's cute, I'm going now." I was trying, trying to remember everything he'd done everything he's said. Holding on to the anchor or strength and hate.

He kissed my forehead " You look beautiful, you know. Those fucking eyes get me every time."

"I need to go." My chest was constricting and I could feel my ice queen facade drip dropping. "If you're feeling lonely call the Barista and ask her what time she gets off at."

His arms dropped "You don't get it do you?" He said coldly. "You always know what to say."

I watched him turn around and head for his car. I let out a breath, I didn't know I was holding in. "You hate that f*ck boy, you're an adult." Pathetic I know.
