"Take me home to Aunt Em!"
Instantly she was whirling through the air, so swiftly that all she could see or feel was the wind whistling past her ears.
The Silver Shoes took but three steps and then she stopped so suddenly that she rolled over upon the grass several times before she knew where she was.
At length however, she sat up and looked about her.
"Good Gracious!" she cried.
For she was sitting on the broad Kansas prairie, and just before her was the new farmhouse Uncle Henry built after the cyclone had carried away the old one. Uncle Henry was milking the cows in the barnyard, and Toto had jumped out of her arms and was running toward the barn, barking furiously.
Dorothy stood up and found she was in her stocking-feet. For the Silver Shoes had fallen off while she was tumbling around the ground. She twirled around looking for the silver shoes and saw a familiar glint of silver about 10 feet away. Dorothy ran up to get a hold of them before she lost them again but spotted only one, Dorothy looked and looked for the other one.
"My darling child!" Aunt Em cried, folding the little girl in her arms and covering her face with kisses. "Where in the world did you come from?"
"From the Land of Oz," said Dorothy gravely. "And here is Toto, too. And oh, Aunt Em! I'm so glad to be at home again!"
"Oh, darling do you know how worried you had your uncle and I?" Aunt Em questioned. "And where in the world did you get a hold of these shoes?"
"I'm sorry Aunt Em, I'll try not to get caught in a cyclone again. And I got them in the Land of Oz, they are what got me and Toto home. They're really powerful, so when you put them on, click the heels together three times, and say where you want to go they will get you there in just three steps," explained Dorothy.
After getting Uncle Henry, Dorothy explained everything from killing the wicked witches of the east and west, to meeting the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Cowardly Lion, and all of their adventures. Uncle Henry and Aunt Em where amazed and slightly concerned but after hearing the way she was talking and the look in her eyes the both of them believed her. After everything calmed down a bit and feeding Dorothy, they got on with working and chores like it was any other day.
6 YEARS LATER
It was Dorothy's 18th birthday and she was excited to say the least. She was going today, she was finally leaving to ... somewhere! She couldn't decide where she was going, she was just going to go where her feet lead her, and right now? They are leading her to the restroom. After her regular early day routine which consists of washing her face, brushing her long light ash brown hair that seems to be a different shade of brown every other day, brushing her teeth, and a couple of other things that she would rather not speak about, she went and put on her special flowing white and blue dress that has three-quarter sleeves, and silver shoes that would grow as she grew. She also put a blue and white ribbon around Toto Jr's neck, and went into the main room. You see when she turned 13 years old as a present from her Uncle he had built a room for her, so she didn't have to sleep out in the main room with her Aunt and Uncle.
When she got into the main room Aunt Em and Uncle Henry gave her breakfast and a cupcake, which they are now called, and her presents which were yellow, red, blue, purple, green and white dresses from Aunt Em, from Uncle Henry she got a some trousers, and blouses for traveling along with a new cloak, and a leather bound journal that she remembers him buying the one time she took them to the Land of Oz to visit her friends in their separate kingdoms. The journal turns into whatever type of book the person who owns it needs, whether it was a diary or a spell book.
