Gabriella

She didn't usually drink like this.

Gabriella Montez looked down at the bottom of her, now empty, red solo cup. Disappointment and annoyance pulled at her mood. The living room was teeming with people. Frat brothers and sorority sisters as far as the eye could see. Everywhere she looked people were dancing, laughing, or shooting the shit.

And poor Taylor Mckessie, her best friend/roommate, was sitting by her side. Unable to enjoy a second of the party she wanted to go to. Despite the fact that her boyfriend Chad Danforth had attempted to lure her away twice now.

Gabriella felt like a jackass.

"This is stupid. Go dance with Chad." Gabriella had to shout over the music to be heard. "You still have a hot boyfriend, you should go enjoy him."

"I'm not leaving your side," Taylor assures her while swamping out Gabriella's empty cup for her own half-filled one. "Sisters before Misters and all that crap."

Gabriella smirks, lifting the cup to her lips. She didn't want to be here. Didn't want to be surrounded by couples or happy people looking for hook-ups. She just wanted to be drunk tonight. Needed to be drunk.

Needed to forget that she just wasted two years of her life with someone who decided it was time to see other people.

"This just isn't going anywhere for me. You're a great girl really, I'm just not feeling it."

Pulling the bed sheets over her bare breast she scrambled up onto her knees. "How are you not feeling it? What does that even mean?" Gabriella's tone sounded panicked. She hated that sound in her voice.

"I don't know, this feels kind of suffocating. You know, like we're forcing it."

"Oh."

"Look, I wanna get married and settle down eventually but not in my 20s." Josh let out a frustrated sigh. "Jesus, I feel like an asshole. You gonna be alright?"

The sounds of her breakup faded into the noise of the room and she lifted the cup to her lips and finished it's contents. Taylor promised her that the night out would be good for her. Just a random party where she could just drink and let loose.

She was wearing a black spaghetti strap top with her hair braided to one side. The top had earned her a few looks, a few raised brows of curiosity. Not that she was interested. Not tonight. Tonight was for getting shit-faced.

She was four watered-down beers into the evening and she still had feelings. She was gonna need something a lot stronger.

As if reading her mind Chad appeared before them. Taking the empty cup from both girls and handing a bottle of beer to Gabriella.

Gabriella smiled in delight. "I knew I liked you," she said with a wink.

"Can I steal her for five minutes?" He pointed at Taylor.

"Please do," Gabriella said, nudging her friend who was about to protest. "Go. Have fun, get your college party girl on."

"I knew I liked you," Chad smirked as he pulled Taylor up from the couch.
