I sit down by the docks with my laptop open in front of me. It was busier down here than usual. Though, that could just be the fact my brother is back in town for what could be a while. I shrug it off and continue focusing on my work. I need to get this book done by tonight if I ever want that opening spot at our local publishing house. This book could finally be my big break. Though, it ain't like I'd be going anywhere away from this town. I'm just hoping to finally be able to pay back everything I owe to my family.

"(Y/N)!" I hear a familiar voice call out to me.

"Not now, Sammy boy!" I shout back, not even bothering to look away from my work. "Gotta finish this by tonight and deliver it to that publishing house! This may be my big break, brother!"

"Come on!" Sam yells back. "Take a two-minute break! Sarah told me you have been at it all month now! When do you even sleep?"

"Eh, sleep is for the weak! Besides, I ain't gonna chance it like last time! Gotta give this everything I got!" I exclaim.

"You really serious about this?" Sam asks.

"Just like Daddy used to say: when the world pushes you down," I start.

"Push back harder," Sam finishes. "Yeah, yeah, just don't overwork yourself on this one! A'right?"

"A'right!" I agree.

"Also don't forget us when you're rich and famous!" Sam teases.

"Sammy boy, all y'all know I don't got anywhere to go but here! I ain't gonna leave you any time soon!" I howl.

"Just making sure!" Sam laughs.

"Yeah, yeah! Get back to workin' on that boat, now will ya? It ain't fixing itself!" I demand.

"I'm coming to bother you around lunchtime!" Sam warns me.

"Wouldn't expect any less!" I shoot back.

I turn my full attention back to my work. I have only this last scene left to write before handing my work off to Sarah and Sam to proofread. Hopefully, this is good enough to get published. As much as I love working for Wilson Family Fishfood, I want to make a bit of a bigger impact in the world. I could never do what my brother does (I have no remarkable power or skill), but what I can do is write stories to touch those who see little hope in the world. I want to touch those who feel powerless and unimportant and broken. I just want to give them hope and make them feel like they have someone to lean on even if that person isn't real. I want to give those people what books and my family gave to me. I sigh and continue writing. Just as I'm about to type the last sentence, I feel the presence of someone standing right behind me, peering over my shoulder. I shudder at the feeling of being watched so closely. I take a deep breath and push away my insecurities so I can focus on writing this last sentence. I feel the person's eyes staring at me. I feel paralyzed on spot. I can't even force my fingers to move another inch. Then suddenly the feeling stops and a plate is placed next to me.

"Thanks," I murmur as I start to relax. I don't look up from my screen as I finally am able to write the last sentence. I let out a long sigh of relief. Finally done.

"You better be ready for us to bother you, sis," Sam taunts. "I'm bringing the company to you."

"You're one lucky son of a bitch, bro. I just finished my writing for this story," I announce. "You and Sarah better be ready to proofread it!"

"Alright! I can't wait! Hey, you know what? You should get Bucky to read it too," Sam exclaims. "Hey, Bucky! Would you like to read what my little sister here has been working on all morning?"

"Woah there, partner. Who the hell is this Bucky fella?" I ask. "I ain't ever known anyone in my life named Bucky. There is no way in hell..."

"Is she offering to let me read it or are you making that decision for her, Sam? I wouldn't feel comfortable reading it if she isn't offering," a man tells Sam as he approaches.
