I found him searching the streets. He had been looking for me as well. I knew the moment he saw me. He was coming out of the Hub, and I was just coming upon it. His eyes practically lit up.
He ran up to me, and gathered me in his arms. I could feel everywhere our bodies touched. I buried my face in the crook of his neck and felt like crying.
I feel him tug me in a general direction, but I am so happy to be in his arms that I don't realize where we are going or how long it takes us to get there.
We are practically running now. I look around and recognize the Victors circle. We reach the dozens here that are unfilled, and he fumbled with what looks like a key. As he gets the door to swing open, it dawns on me. This is now his home. Because he won.
He grabs my hand and pulls me into the house. We both stop in the middle of the front of the house as the door closes behind us, shocked into silence at how nice it is. Even nicer than the old house we were able to afford because of the bakery.
I heard his heavy breathing, and all of a sudden the silence became unbearable.
"I went back to the bakery thinking that you would be there. I figured you would see your parents first. They were really worried about you, you know. Not to say that I wasn't either, I just–"
I was cut off when I felt his hands on my face. I turn my head towards him, but don't meet his eyes. I felt my face going red. He got so close I could count his breath. I thought that he could hear my heartbeat because of how loud it was beating.
"I-i love you. I don't know if you knew that."
He chuckles and smiles. Our bodies align and I finally meet his gaze.
"I love you, too."
