this playthrough of dynamons is what really made me love pyropine.
pyropine always caught my eye during a playthrough, but i never decided to use it for some reason.
so, i decided to play dynamons
but i can only use pyropine!
Rules
- i can only use pyropine (duh)
- i can only use items given to me by the game (meaning only berries, and skill cans until i get later into the game where i get potions)
- since i cant delete the other dynamons in my party, ill have to keep them, but never use them.
- pyropine can't be at least 5 levels higher than the other trainers.
- in order for the run to be complete, i have to beat all bosses in all story-important areas (so no mt. Krembo completion is needed)
- the challenge does not start until i catch a pyropine, and get it to a level where it is actually able to battle.
Why pyropine?
Hp recovery and stat boosts are probably the some ofnmost important aspects of dynamon battling. Pyropine has access to both in the form of enflame, which is accessible at a very early level. Also, i just think pyropine is neat.
Area 1: Camp Dynamons
so i started out my game, picked snorky, and did the tutorial. catching duxedo is useless, and once i get a skill can, the game tells me to use it on a pyropine.
luckily, it didn't K.O the pyropine, so i was able to start the challenge early.
The first boss was Claude's guard, which would be a problem with my low level pyropine. in fact, it would not only be impossible to beat the guard, it would also be impossible to progress to river falls without beating him. so i had to use my starter and duxedo to beat the guard along with pyropine. after leveling up to level 3, pyropine learned flash. but this wasn't enough to beat the water and dark types at river falls. i grinded to level 5, and this is when i go to river falls.
Area 2: River Falls
river falls is a... lets just say challenging area for any fire type. since fire types are weak to dark and water, this would be the first challenge in the playthrough. but since the first guard had a falcano, which would deal neutral damage against pyropine, it wouldnt be that big of a deal.
but there's a problem.
the falcano is level 9.
but according to the rules, i can use stat boosting berries in battle.
so after spamming bunker berries, power peppers, and the moves scratch and fire storm (because flash does less damage, because its supposed to do a lot more damage when the enemy is sick.) the falcano got pyropine to level 7, and then it learned a highy important move.
enflame.
enflame heals the user and increases the attack stat, so not only does he have a stat boosting ability, he has something very important in a run with no brought items. recovery.
he beat the second guard with ease due to enflame, a bunker berry, and a water blast skill can. but before he could beat the next bosses in the area, i wanted to go to the power plant, for an important reason. fire beats electric, so it would be extremely easy to grind here. but first, i had to beat alaska. alaska specializes in water type dynamons, so this would be a challenge. i had no bunker berries, but i had a power pepper,so i comboed it with enflame. i almost died, but i beat alaska on a sliver of health left.
