The taxi driver pulled up to the long driveway on the rich side of Mission Creek. The house that stood before me was you're typical modern day mansion but it was still beautiful none the less. I couldn't believe that Tasha lived here with her son Leo, but I recently found out that she married Donald Davenport, who was a brilliant scientist and engineer. So he's a tech wizard that's super rich. She sure knows how to pick em.
I was scared to move in because of my powers that only my parents knew about. It was such a tragic when I found out they passed on and it's still hard for me to even believe it. Everything reminds me of them and it's hard to get passed this stage of grief. But maybe I'll like it here.
Once the taxi stopped I got out and grabbed my bags from the trunk, knowing that the bill was already paid for thanks to Donald. I rubbed a tear from my eye before walking up the steps and knocked gently on the door. My hair blew gently from the breeze and a few hairs escaped from under my ball cap as the door opened to reveal a sympathetic Tasha. She didn't say anything as she pulled me into a hug.
"It's so nice to see you again Kay. I'm just sorry it's on these conditions," she says rubbing my back. If I had any tears left to cry then I definitely would've.
"It's alright Tasha it'll be hard to move on but I think I can be happy here with you and your family," I replied as she pulled away. She took some of my bags bringing them into the livingroom and I followed.
The inside of the house was just as stunning as the outside. The room was an open plan area that was the livingroom, kitchen and dining room all in one. Very modern but homey which I loved.
"Alright well just wait right here and I'll go get everyone," she says before leaving to find her family. It could take some time since this house was huge. I continued to look around while she was gone, trying to take everything in. As I walked about my eyes landed on a beautiful grand piano that seemed to be calling me. So I walked over and sat down, without a thought my hands danced over the keys and my voice joined along with the music.
I love it when you just don't care
I love it when you dance like there's nobody there
So when it gets hard, don't be afraid
We don't care what them people sayI love it when you don't take no
I love it when you do what you want 'cause you just said so
Let them all go home, we out late
We don't care what them people sayMy eyes closed not needing to see the keys since I knew this song by heart. It meant alot to me.
We don't have to be ordinary
Make your best mistakes
'Cause we don't have the time to be sorry
So baby, be the life of the partyI'm tellin' you to take your shot, it might be scary
Hearts are gonna break
'Cause we don't have the time to be sorry
So baby, be the life of the partyTogether we can just let go
Pretend like there's no one else here that we know
Slow dance, fall in love as the club track plays
We don't care what them people sayWe don't have to be ordinary
Make your best mistakes
'Cause we don't have the time to be sorry
So baby, be the life of the partyI'm tellin' you, take your shot, it might be scary
Hearts are gonna break
'Cause we don't have the time to be sorry
So baby, be the life of the partyCome out tonight, come out tonight
There's no one standin' in your way
Come out tonight, come out tonight
We don't care what them people say
We don't care what them people sayWe don't have to be ordinary
Make your best mistakes
'Cause we don't have the time to be sorry
So baby, be the life of the partyI'm tellin' you, take your shot, it might be scary
Hearts are gonna break
'Cause we don't have the time to be sorry
So baby, be the life of the partyYeah, yeah, yeah
Life of the party
So don't let 'em keep you down
Oh, you know you can't give up
'Cause we don't have the time to be sorry
So baby, be the life of the party"I don't think I've ever heard a voice quiet as lovely as yours. Or angelic piano playing for that matter," a voice says from behind me as I finished.
Forgetting the world around me for the moment. I jumped at the voice and turned around in the bench. Standing not too far was a boy around my age, he had chestnut hair that was stuck up at the front and eyes the color of melted chocolate. His smile was also very charming.
"Oh well thank-you. My mother use to say my voice was a gift from the angels," I say, a blush dusting my cheeks as I stood up holding out my hand. "I'm Kaylynn. You must be one of Leo's step Brothers," he nodded shaking my hand with a firm grip.
"It's lovely to meet you Kaylynn. I'm Chase and Leo's told us lots about you. I'm sorry to hear about your parents. They were archeologists right?" He replies showing some sympathy as well as curiosity.
"Yeah they were world renown ones and quiet famous, although maybe not as famous as your dad," I replied giving him a small smile. I'm glad he didn't press me more about my parents after that.
"He also has the world's biggest ego, but don't tell him I told you," he joked chuckling then smiled showing off a set of pearly white teeth. I was about to say something when Tasha came back into the room with everyone else. I looked over at Leo.
"I see you finally grew into your big boy shoes," I teased seeing that he was now taller than me. Last time I saw him, which was just before Tasha got married, he was shorter than me by a few inches.
"Oh I like her already," the tallest boy said as Leo rolled his eyes. He knew I meant no harm by the statement and was quite use to my torments.
"I see you met my brother Chase already. Well this is my other brother Adam and my sister Bree. This is Kaylynn," Leo introduced pointing them out despite it being obvious who was who.
"And you already met Donald," Tasha says gesturing to her husband and I sent a wave to them.
"Howdy," I said since I'm not the best as meeting new people. However I'm sure it won't take long getting to know them.
"Oh it's so exciting having another girl around. All the boyish antics are driving me crazy," Bree says getting all excited and jumpy. I'm not that good with excitement so I finch as she made her way over. Of course this caused me to summon a ball of water in front of everyone.
It started freezing into a glob of ice ad they stared at me with looks of shock. So I began panicking and soon parts of my body began shifting species and the ground began shaking gently. Not enough to cause damage but enough to be noticed.
"Please don't tell anyone. Don't send me away. I can't help it, I'm a monster," I pleaded stepping back as tears ran down my face. They looked more shocked then scared but the silence was deadly.
"Shes bionic like us," Chase says breaking the silence but I didn't know what he meant as my back pressed against the wall.
Why aren't they afraid of me.....
