I'm speechless. He's like me!! He's like me? how is this possible? I know I'm in a different universe but I still don't understand. I began stuttering endlessly my brain completely shutting down, probably from lack of food. He just chuckles awkwardly while rubbing the back of his neck, he clearly doesn't know anything either. I don't know what to say so I ask a benign question.
"uh, can I have my sandwich back?"
"oh, yah of course" he tosses me the sandwich as he steps closer.
I unwrap the sandwich and take a bite. It's the greatest thing I've ever eaten, probably because I was starving. Now that my brain is working I try and figure out what is happening.
"okay let me get this straight, you also have spidey powers? like you have web's, and stuff?"
"yes, yes I do" he said awkwardly.
this kid is the most nerdy, introverted wierdo, I've ever met, and I would protect him with my life.
"how'd you get your's?" I ask, my mouth full.
" radioactive spider bite. you?" he asked.
"same. how long have you had yours?"
"only about 8 months"
"I was bitten 5 years ago, when I was 17"
we sat in an awkward silence as I finished the last few bites of my sandwich. I can hear his phone begin vibrating in his pocket, and when he takes it out his face becomes excited. He excuses himself and steps away, his back turned to me. As the person on the other side of the phone starts talking I see Peter stiffen, his aura becoming harsh. My spider sense kicks in and I become alert, but I don't let Peter see the change in my attitude. I hear him mutter something into the phone before hanging up and walking back to me, he looks disheveled.
"who was that?" I ask, acting like I didn't notice the change in his demeanor.
"my aunt, she wants me to come home. You want to come with?" he avoids eye contact, making it blatantly obvious that he is lying.
I feel bad for the kid, truly. He obviously had some sort of obligation to get me somewhere, and he seemed hesitant to carry it out.
"no, I should probably go. Great meeting you spider-man, I'll see you later" before he can stutter out an excuse, I swing off the roof and disappear.
after I made sure Peter couldn't see me I drop onto the street and begin walking, I didn't want people to keep pestering me about being spider-man. While I'm on the street I see a homeless child and my heart breaks, I can't leave her without helping so I give her the rich man's wallet and tell her to buy anything she needs. Her face light's up and my heart soars, making me feel happier than I have the whole time I've been in this new universe.
walking in the busy streets of new york made me feel weird about being in my pyjama's, and the fact that I didn't have shoes on. Passing by all the clothing stores I got a kind of shady idea, I'm gonna steal some clothes. I see a shop with a cute outfit in the window and walk in.
once I'm in the store I head to a corner and grab a pair of chunky mary janes and put them on to try and distract from my very interesting outfit, made up of paint-stained pyjama pants and my old highschool debate t-shirt, but I think it just made me look even more like a crazy person. I wander around the store grabbing items of clothing, making an outfit in my head. When I'm satisfied I head to the back of the store and enter a change room, quickly ripping off my old clothes and pulling on the new outfit. I break off the security tags and sneak out of the change room, I head to the bathroom and lock the door behind me. I take a look around and see a window, it's small and like 8 feet off the ground but it shouldn't be a problem. I check myself out in the mirror before shooting a web at the window frame and ripping it off the hinges. crawling out the window I make sure not to snag any of my new clothes on the broken window frame. When I'm out of the window I hop down onto the street, dust off my clothes and start walking.
A/N: this is what I imagine the outfit to look like (: but with chunky Mary Janes and knee high sock's. sorry this update took so long I haven't had wifi for a while.
