I watched the grass quietly, not sure what to do. I heard the crunch of a stick and looked up to see a person walk through one of The Ruins' many archways. They saw me and curiously stepped towards me from the shadows.
"Howdy! I'm ———! You must be new here!" I smiled a little at the human.
They tilted their head slightly at me, watching me intently. I opened my mouth to speak when they stepped closer.
"What's wrong?" I asked, feeling a little uneasy when I saw the smile spreading across their face.
They stepped closer and brought their hand out into the light, a knife held tightly in it.
"...wh-what are you doing-?" I felt my heart drop with fear.
Their eyes flashed red and their grin got sickeningly insane.
"P-please don't hurt me!" I curled up when they lunged at me.
I woke up. Looking around confused, my blankets were all over me, tangled up around my leg and some still falling off the bed. "Must've fallen off the bed again..." I thought to myself. I wiggled my way out of the blankets and got up, picking them up and climbing back into bed.
"Trying to lose weight while sleeping?" A voice asked from across the room.
I looked over, seeing Chara laying on her stomach, kicking her legs in the air and watching me.
"....Are you implying I have weight to lose?" I smiled.
"Not exactly, it's just kind of weird to see you having a crazy seizure in the middle of the night." She tilted her head a little, her bright red eyes filled with concern.
"I'm fine Chara...just had another nightmare..." I grumbled softly, pulling my knees up against my chest.
"...the flower one again?" She asked, sitting up.
I nodded in response, knowing she'd be instantly willing to distract or comfort me. She got up off the bed.
"Chara not againnnn, I said I'm fine!" I groaned.
"Whaaaat? I'm not "comforting you"- ....I'm- just cold-" she very obviously lied with a mischievous smile spreading across her face.
"....okay fine." I opened my arms for her.
She came over and hugged me, forcing me to lay down so she could lay ontop of me. I grumbled softly as she fiddled with my heart locket, quietly staring up at me with her ruby eyes.
"Anything you want to do?" She asked softly.
"....not right now to be completely honest." I mumbled.
"Because you can't get up?" She smiled, hugging me tighter.
"...that's part of it." I brushed some hair out of her eyes and smiled a little.
"..you make weird noises when you have nightmares or dreams you like, can I ask why?" She laid her head on my chest and closed her eyes.
"...well the nightmares scare me." I explained softly.
"...what about the good dreams? What's in those that make you make weird squeaky noises?" She asked, looking up at me again.
"Nothing of your concern." I blushed softly.
"Well it obviously issssss." She teased.
"Shut uppppp!" I wiggled.
She laughed lightly and rested her head on my chest, staring up at me.
"...what?" I asked, confused.
"You're cute Az. Accept it." She smiled.
"....you're mean." I responded.
"Sometimes." She winked and snuggled against me again.
I laid there, staring at the ceiling. Chara liked cuddling me a lot and her excuse was because I was warm but I never really knew the actual reason why. I rubbed her back and let her doze off on me, it helped her sleep better to have me there because for some reason I made her feel safe. I thought back to the nightmare, the human with the red eyes and the knife. If I didn't know any better than I'd say it was Chara, but Chara doesn't wear a blue and purple sweater. They looked nice at first but became evil quickly, like their decision to hurt me wasn't their own and it was...influenced somehow.
