"Commander?" Said a guard as he knocked, Ridley's bright yellow eyes slowly opening. He groaned and rubbed his eyes, now feeling the tears that planned to trail down his face. "That same dream again..." he thought.

The sudden, continuous knocks caused him to grumble as he got out of bed, looking in the mirror before finally opening the door. "Oh! Good morning sir." "Yeah yeah." Ridley yawned, "What time is it?" The guard looked at his watch, "It's uh... 11:32. Don't worry sir, the General has been keeping an eye on things while you slept." The space dragon smiled thankfully, thinking of said General.

Eve, formerly known as Dark Samus. General of the Space Pirates, Ridley's second-in-command, his personal bodyguard, and secret lover.

He walked towards the throne room, nodding to his staff as they greeted him when they passed his way. With a quick swing of the huge doors, he walked in proudly, his hand behind his back in a professional manner. His eyes quickly caught sight of Eve ordering around some guards, his smile growing slightly.

Eve took notice of his arrival, dispelling the guards. "Good morning Commander." She greeted, "I take it you slept well?" Ridley rubbed his neck nervously. "I... suppose you could say that." He then exhaled before regaining his professional composure, "For now, let's look at Project C2. I heard it's progressing nicely."

Throughout the day, all they could do was exchange glances and conversate every now and then, with the occasional joke squeezed in.

Once everyone clocked out (save for the night guards), it was basically free reign for them.

Ridley nuzzled the top of Eve's helmet as they stared out towards the stars, his arm wrapped lovingly around her waist. "I'm glad we can still have moments like this." Eve sighed. The space dragon hummed in response, smiling warmly. After a moment, Eve looked up towards him. "Hey, Hon? You kind of seemed... distant, when you talked about how you slept. You sure you're okay?" Ridley looked away, trying to figure out how to tell her.

Before he could say anything, they began to hear footsteps!

A night guard passed by, greeting them (who were now separated) with a nod. Once the guard was gone, Ridley sighed, "We should probably head back to our rooms." Eve nodded.

They stopped at Ridley's room. As the space dragon opened his door, ready to bid her goodnight, the dark hunter looked around.

No cameras, no guards. Okay.

She removed her helmet, turned his head towards her, and gave him a quick kiss. As she put her helmet back on, Ridley stood still, trying to comprehend what just happened, until he heard her starting to walk away. "Wait."

Eve stopped and looked back at him, "Yes, sir?" A blush began to form on the space dragon's face as he asked, "Can you... stay with me tonight?" He looked away nervously. Eve chuckled softly before heading into his room, but looked at him on her way in and said, "I had a feeling something was up." In a rather... sensual voice. Ridley's blush became brighter, following her inside.

By the time he came to his senses, his lover was already in her zero suit, sitting on the edge of his bed and feeling the soft, velvety covers. He crawled onto the bed and sat down behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist as he nuzzled into her neck. She held his cheek to bring him closer, "So what's wrong? Not sleeping well?" Ridley sighed softly. "I um... I'm having a lot of, nightmares, recently. I-it's the same thing every night. Seeing Mother..." His eyes brimmed with tears as he tried to continue, "S-seeing her... limp, in her own blood. And me, just, trying to get h-her to..." He held onto her a bit tighter as a few tears finally fell. "To wake up."

Eve nuzzled him, whispering words of comfort as he wept. "Oh honey." She cooed, moving him so he could lay his head on her lap. She gently rubbed his back as he still cried.

It had been nearly 30 minutes until his sniffling slowly came to a stop, his breathing finally calming down as Eve continued to comfort him. Ridley nuzzled into her lap more as he whispered, "Th-thanks, starlight. Hm... didn't realize how much I needed this." Eve lifted his head up to face her. "Yeah, of course. Just remember you don't have to deal with this alone anymore, okay?" Ridley nodded. They kissed softly, the space dragon raising himself up more to hold her close, cradling her cheek.

They separated after a moment, a dopey smile appearing on the space dragon's face as he sighed, "I love you." "Love you too, you big baby." Eve chuckled, kissing his snout, "Ready for bed?" His eyes widened, remembering why they were in his room in the first place! "O-oh! Uh, yeah. L-let's get some sleep."

The couple put the covers on top of each other, with Eve in her side, staring out the large window. Things were silent.

Ridley's arm snaked around her waist, snuggling her close as he purred, causing Eve to blush brightly. "Hey, uh.." He began, "Thank you. For doing this, I mean. I love you." Her hand found his, giving it a comforting squeeze, "I love you too. Night baby." "Night."

Eve groaned softly as she felt something pull her closer, hearing shaky breaths along with it. She lifted her head and saw her boyfriend, cradling her closer and mumbling in his sleep as tears threatened to fall from his closed eyes. She looked at the time.

1:53.

She turned around to where she was facing him, her arm wrapping around him comfortingly as she leaned into his chest. "He's so warm..." She thought. After a moment of comfort, his breathing slowed as his body relaxed again. He nuzzled her head, smiling in his sleep as he began to purr again. Eve sighed softly, listening to his heartbeat as her eyes grew heavy.

"Oh Commander~?"

Ridley felt someone caress his cheek, his eyes barely opening as he purred from the gentle touch.

"Good morning." Eve smiled. Ridley stretched out his limbs as he yawned, "Mornin'." Eve was about to get up when he grabbed her arm and tiredly dragged her back to his side, wrapping his arm around her to pin her down. Eve couldn't help but chuckle, "C'mon! We gotta get up!" "Nooooo..." He whined, The dark hunter managed to swerve out of his grip, Ridley sitting up on his elbows with a tired smile on his face. "I'm guessing you slept well?" Asked Eve, combing her hair. "Damn right I did." He replied. He sat on the edge of the bed more as he cracked his back, "Haven't slept that good in a long time!" "Glad I could help!" She began to put on her suit, "It's not every day we can do this."

Next thing she knew, Ridley was right by her side, gently grabbing her chin so she faced him. She blushed a bit as she noticed his sly grin. "Y'know..." He began, now a little bit behind her as he held her wrists, her arm and arm cannon barely above her head as he whispered the last part, "It can be an every day thing. If you want it to be." Eve's blush became much brighter. "W-well I mean... I, um." She cleared her throat. "A-as much as I want to, we're already at risk of getting caught, so..." "Aww c'mon Evie! People know better than to question us! Plus, this, secret of ours, is pretty exciting, no?"

Eve sighed, kissing his cheek, "Maybe a little." She got out of his grip and was about to put on her helmet when she said, "I'll think about it."

Ridley held her hand and arm cannon in his claws, nuzzling her, "That's all I need you to do."
