Chasing My Drug

PROLOGUE

"Let us stop this madness, Adriana. This marriage will never work."

Alejandro firmly said in front of her. She just stared blankly on him while putting down the glass of wine she was drinking.

"No. Hindi ako papayag. I need you, Alejandro."

Mariing sambit ni Adriana at ipinikit ang mata dahil sa sakit at hilo na nararamdaman dahil na rin sa epekto ng alak.

"Ma--hal kita, Alejandro." Na sinabayan pa nya ng mahinang pagtawa at itinaas bahagya ang baso  na animo’y inaalok ng alak si Alejandro.

"Mahal na mahal kita." Halos pabulong na tinig niya habang diretsong nakatitig sa mata ni Alejandro.

"I don't give a damn with your feelings. Here is the annulment paper. Sign this and you'll get enough money for your father's operation. "

She was breaking inside. She can feel her heart being torn apart AGAIN upon hearing his words. She stood up from her seat and faced him. They are just few inches away from each other. Her heart beats erratically. She studied his beautiful face. She will never forget this man.

"I won't sign it." She said in low voice, enough for him to hear it.

He is pissed off now. He wants to strangle the neck of this crazy woman in front of her to teach her a lesson. Alejandro hates Adriana so much. He hates her attitude. She’s wicked, immature, crazy and dangerous. He hates her guts and he just doesn’t like her at all. He will never like nor love this kind of woman. Not in this lifetime.

"You'll regret it, Adriana" He said with a hint of danger on his voice and turned his back on her.

As soon as he slammed the main door with force, she immediately ran after him.

How long will I chase him? When will he stop running away and look behind? I’m just right there.

“Alejandro!” She shouted loudly but he just ignored her.

I still want to take another shot. Probably my last chase, my last chance on him.

When she came near him, she forcefully pulled his arm before he open the door of his car. She tiptoed, wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his lips. He doesn’t respond at all and it is breaking her heart. She feel numb, unable to move.

Alejandro break the kiss and whispered on her ear.

"You're helpless, Adriana. Get the fuck out of my life. I don't need you and I will never love someone like you."

Minutes passed and she found herself alone in the garden.

He leaves her. He’s gone now. She’s pathetically and crazily in love with that man – Alejandro Del Riego.

She looked up above and saw the clear night sky. It was full of stars and the moon is shining brightly. She smiled on the thought of how beautiful the world is while her heart is aching. The pain is too much. Out of the sudden, she felt a wet liquid flowing outside her eyes. Her face felt damp.

Am I crying? Is this the tears that my doctor told me about? Am I normal now?

“Putangina! Ang sakit mong mahalin Alejandro!” She shouted loudly while she sobbed and her tears continue to fall.

Ang tanga-tanga mo, Adriana.

MORNING came and a call from her phone woke her up. Her head is still aching from the liquor she took. Her eyes felt heavy. She’s wasted. Scenarios from last night keep repeating on her head. She will no longer see him and it pains her. It’s already 10 in the morning and she’s still on her bed.

“Sino po ito?” she politely asked.

“Good morning, Ms. Gomez. This is Atty. Sandoval and I just want to inform you that your marriage with Mr. Alejandro Del Riego is officially null and void. You’re a free woman now.” The man said on the other line.

She’s dumbfounded.

“How did it happen? Wala akong pinirmahan kahit anong papeles, Atty. Sandoval.”

Mangiyakngiyak niyang sambit sa kausap.

“Money talks and his connection did all the work to make the process of your annulment fast. Hindi basta-bastang tao ang napangasawa mo, Hija. He’s a Del Riego. And I almost forgot that he deposited an amount of P10 million on your bank account. Do you have any more questions?”

Katahimikan. Pinutol na niya ang tawag. Wala siyang masambit na isang salita.

Tanging pagluha lang ang kaya niyang magawa ngayon. She’s crying again. She can cry now kahit hindi niya ito katabi o  nakikita.

She’s indeed cured now yet her only drug leaves her heart beyond repair.
