I'm waiting for her. She's late. I said to meet me at 12:00 and its 12:05. I can't believe that she's just leave me like this. She will have to learn. I'll teach her to never be late. No one likes a late girl.
Five minutes later she walks into the diner smiling. It's hard to be mad at her while she looks so beautiful. Today, she is wearing a tight blue dress. The color looks amazing on her. She always looks stunning for me.
She sits down and before she says anything I speak, "you're late."
She smiles and looks at her watch "yes I am late. Traffic sucks."
I smile "don't be late again, please."
She nods her head and looks at the menu. I watch as she scans the items listed. Her eyes widen "oh my god! I totally forgot that they serve breakfast food at all hours!" She laughs "I love breakfast food! I'll order the French toast." Her smile is so wide. If she wants it she'll get it.
The waitress takes our orders and then we are left with each other.
She looks right at me "you're different. And I like that about you." The smile never seems to leave her face. It's contagious and I smile back at her but I don't say anything. I don't know what to say to that. So I change the subject to her car. I noticed that she loves her car more than anything. She goes on even as the waitress brings our food.
After she's finished eating and talking she asks about me. She stares at me. I don't know how to answer. So I tell her that i have no family. No friends. And that I work as a mechanic on 5th street. She had pitty in her eyes. Silly girl. If only she knew. "How'd your family die?"
*flashback*
I'm hiding in the closet. Maybe this time he won't find me. I hear him finish up with my sister, Brittany. It's my turn.
My breathing hitches and I try to muffle it.
The foot steps come closer and closer. Soon enough the closet door flies open and he grabs me and throws me on the bed. I try to escape but it never works. I scream for mommy to help but she's not here. Father always does this when she's never home. I start crying but that only angers him. He pins me down harder as he beats me. What did I do to deserve this?
By the time he's finished, he walks out and locks me in my sisters room. She's crying too. Don't worry, Brittany. One day, I'll make sure he never touches us again.
*end flashback*
I lie. "They all died of old age," I change the subject, "how would you like to go get dinner sometime with me?"
A smile spreads across her face. "I'd love that!"
We finish up at the Diner and I walk her to her car. She hugs me goodbye, gets in her car and dives off.
As I sit there in the parking lot I ponder. Why does she ask so many questions? She can't know anything. I'll have to teach her to never ask me invasive questions. She can get hurt if she does. I get into my truck and drive home. I make a list.
1. Teach her to never ask questions
2. Teach her to never be late
3. Control her and make her better
I hang the list on my wall over my computer. By the time I'm done with her she'll be perfect.
