"Oop that must be the food!" a flustered Sarada jumped up and scurried toward the door, thankful for the interruption.
How the hell did he always manage to invade her personal space like that?! How did he always make her forget that she definitely definitely did not want to kiss him! Ugh!
Thank god their order came quickly (actually surprisingly quickly) because she needed to get Boruto out of her place as soon as possible. Sarada opened the door, ready to accept their pizza, but her mouth fell open when dark eyes locked with jade green.
"Mom?!"
"I'm sorry, I know it's late! But I came straight from the airport because I just missed you so much!" Sakura squealed as she pulled Sarada in for a tight hug that lasted several moments.
Sarada patted her mother on the back, her brain scrambling to figure out how to explain who Boruto was and why he would be at her house at this hour if he was merely the subject of her article.
When Sakura released her from their embrace, her green eyes drifted past Sarada's shoulder to Boruto sitting on the couch inside.
"Oh I'm so sorry sweetheart, I didn't even think about you having a guest!" She quickly apologized.
The corner of Sarada's lips curved down in a little frown. She had joked about not having a life, but could her mother not act so surprised that she had company. She did have friends!
But lost in those thoughts, Sarada missed the opportunity to take control of the situation. Her mother stepped inside her apartment and set her suitcase down by the door while Boruto rounded the couch and approached the two Uchiha women.
"Boruto Uzumaki," he introduced with a bright smile as he reached his hand out for Sakura to shake. "Sarada's boyfriend."
Sarada gaped at him for a moment before she jerked her attention back to her mother. "He's joking! He is definitely not my boyfriend!"
"But I'm working on it," he said as he shot a wink at Sakura before letting go of her hand.
"Could you shut up?!" Sarada muttered angrily. She knew letting Boruto into her apartment was bound to cause trouble, but this was a literal nightmare!
Sakura giggled softly, clearly amused by their exchange.
"Why don't you ladies sit down and catch up, while I make us all some tea?" Boruto offered politely.
"Stop acting like you know where things are in my house!" Sarada growled before turning to her mom. "He's never even been here before, we're not romantically involved whatsoever."
"She's right, the sleepover that we had was strictly professional," he added.
Sarada's lips parted, ready to let out a frustrated scream. Thank god her father wasn't there!
"I am going to choke you!" she grumbled.
Boruto pressed a finger to her lips and lowered his voice. "Well, I'm not saying I'm opposed to the idea if that's something you're interested in, I just think we shouldn't have a conversation about bedroom preferences in front of our guest."
Her eye twitched in barely contained rage. Did he just say 'OUR guest'?!
"Get out of my apartment!" Sarada snapped.
"What?!" Boruto gasped, his hand grabbed his heart in feigned hurt.
"Aw Sarada, don't make him leave because of me! I'd feel so bad!" Sakura interjected, her brows furrowed in concern.
"Yeah Sarada, don't make me leave," he pouted. Irritated dark eyes glanced between the sad faces of Boruto and her mother.
"Fine, make some tea then!" she told Boruto with a huff. He grinned as he turned and practically skipped toward the kitchen in victory.
