Chapter 2 Guild Life

The next few weeks passed in the same manner. Every day Amber and Cana hung out, drank most of the time, and enjoyed each other's company. It was fun. Amber found that she didn't mind the company of the straight forward no nonsense and at times sarcastic Cana, and she seemed to enjoy Amber's company as well. With each passing day that Amber didn't have to see the reason for her visit she enjoyed herself more, really enjoyed herself.. And then that ended.

Amber and Cana were sitting at the bar, Cana in her regular small amount of clothing and Amber wearing black sweatpants and a maroon tanktop. Cana was flirting jokingly with Amber who was doing the same back, when the doors opened and four people were silhouetted against the setting sun.

"Oh great, the loud mouths are back again." Cana said sarcastically.

"The loudmouths?"

"Yeah, Natsu and Gray. They're a pair, you'll see. The other two are Lucy and Erza."

Gray. At the sound of his name Amber felt the anxiety take hold. Holy shit.. I should leave now. The people changed from silhouettes to figures walking inside looking at everything and shouting that they were back. One had pink hair and was loud but the other was very familiar.

With his black hair and dark blue eyes he was taller and much more grown up, but definitely the same Gray. The last time she'd seen him he'd been only eight years old - she'd been five. After Deliora's attack that killed their parents she'd been severely injured and before anyone could come to their aid wolves had descended on the territory. One of them, finding her alive, had sniffed at her abdomen where the blood was still seeping out. Half delirious she'd reached out for the wolf, put her small hands on either side of its nose, and at that moment learned that she possessed magic. The wolf grabbed her by the back of her jacket and dragged her off into the forest, the others following. It'd been a miracle she'd survived. But she couldn't think about that right now.

Internally shaking her head she watched as the group of four walked further in and looked around - apparently the guild hall was nicer than it used to be, but she had nothing to compare to. As they were introduced to the new members she listened too. The first was a girl named Juvia - apparently they already knew her. The second was a guy with long dark brown spiked hair with piercings all over his face. This one she knew. Their eyes locked and he returned her glare but said nothing. Cana noticed.

"Jaden, you know Gajeel?"

"Not well. Our paths have crossed a few times."

"Hm. He destroyed the guild not that long ago - I still can't believe that he's been allowed to join but whatever."

Not ten minutes later a fight broke out. Amber was going to stay out of it but then Cana jumped in and, shrugging, Amber did too. There was just something so fun about beating up each other with bare hands. Amber punched and dodged, smacking flesh and dodging until a punch came from nowhere getting her in the gut. This pissed her off and she punched back rapidly. The pink haired fucker dodged but that was alright - the hit wasn't her main attack. He smirked right before her foot nailed him in the temple and he fell. Pinky got up and was about to punch at her again when a mostly naked guy got in the way, punching him instead. Gray? Her brother punched pinky back in the face and then the two started going at it. The fight didn't last much longer, everyone laughing and joking around as they set the guild hall back up. Gajeel walked over and she crossed her arms, not wanting to deal with him, but someone else got to him first.

"You. Outside, now." The guy said to Gajeel.

"Fine." He looked at Amber. "But we need to talk next."

"What, you even have a problem with stranger newbies? Leave her alone." Pinky interjected. Didn't I just kick him in the face? He doesn't even know me. This kind of irritated her. What was his name again...?
