CHAPTER ONE

"Can you put on the damn radio for God's sake?" Phoebe snarled at Drake who had some silly songs blasting in the car from his phone.

She was an emotional mess and they knew that she was the most emotional out of all of us. In Joe's place on the passengers' seat, he always gets shotgun, he glanced at the backseat. Elise had her cheek against the car's window, her hair a dangerous ocean of plenty as it whipped around and she was fast asleep, the rough road bumping and rocking the car and her body was definitely going to suffer when they arrived.

Phoebe was in between Jenna and Elise, her caramel skin glistening a little as almost an unnoticeable sheen of sweat layered her skin.

Jenna was furiously typing on her phone, an annoying smile he was itching to wipe off her face plastered there and he wondered if her cheeks were going to be alright but then again, Jenna was the most foolish of fools when it came to love and its matters, she was definitely talking to her boyfriend.

And then back at him, the only one in the group who has the unlucky star in finding love. Well, Elise was not in any but she used to be, she decided that all men were boring and fucked up and she deserved nothing of that nonsense and so was waiting for a man who will intrigue her. She hasn't found any so far and it has almost been a year and her friends were not sure there's even a man out there who can intrigue Elise, that bitch was as complicated and complex as hell, maybe that man hasn't been born yet or he was just going appear in their world like those transmigration novels.

Joe hadn't had any encounter with any person since his boyfriend, who was now in jail for a conviction of murder. But that was history, a long with past one at that. He decided to focus on his life more and then finally search for love after college and then maybe if things go well for him, marry someone. And that someone was nowhere to be found, and just like Elise even he was not sure if he could find someone who would love him like he was, not because of what he had or who he was.

But if in any chance he is still single, it wouldn't a problem at all, he would get more time to look after Jenna's kids, he loved those tiny cute bundles, they make his heart somersault with immense joy. Bros before hoes.

"Why are you so unusually quiet?" Drake asked as he realized that Joe had been sighing and then smiling like a fool plus Joe always talked to him or rather scolded him whenever he got the chance but he said nothing even when he had intentionally annoyed Phoebe.

Joe snapped out of his thoughts with Drake's question "I'm just thinking about my love life" he shrugged.

Drake frowned and he started getting furious, he knew that incident and it wasn't his fault, Joe was a young, dumb teen who was trying to get along in his first relationship.

"You know it wasn't your fault and there is definitely someone out there for you, even though you haven't found them now"

Joe turned to him "I guess so"

"Besides, if you're still single after my search for a girl becomes unsuccessful, I will date you," Drake said in all seriousness.

Joe chuckled "You wouldn't do that?" But the look on Drake's face was enough to wipe off the chuckle from his throat and he knew Drake was serious.

Drake still stared at Joe to make him know he was serious, he could joke about all things but not feelings, he used to have a crush, a teeny weeny one which lasted for only a few days and then, he had found a girl and they were already dating and he had all but forgotten about it. He didn't know how but he realized that even though the crush was gone he still had some sort of admiration, not in that way but in a brotherly kind of way though he wouldn't hesitate to date him or find someone for Joe and stop him from always living in the past, Joe was a rare soul, the one who lights up your world without him even doing anything. And he was willing to do anything for him, Joe wouldn't hesitate to help him if he was in his position.
