Ten was nowhere to be seen.
In all honesty, Jungwoo did not care, but there was no doubt that he was still curious about what had happened the day before. Mark's eyes were puffed, Yuta seemed gloomy, and Sicheng tried to act natural but everyone knew he had been holding anger inside him. The only ones in a good mood were Jungwoo and Yukhei, who spent an hour in front of the night sea and then slept peacefully next to each other – not knowing that they were indirectly involved in the fight.
Yukhei tried his best to light up the mood by inviting everyone to a breakfast buffet filled with a mix of Japanese, Okinawan, and Western cuisine. He convinced everyone to eat well since they would need a lot of energy for outdoor activities such as hiking – which successfully made Mark and Yuta's faces lit up. Sicheng groaned, but luckily his fiance managed to convince him that nature might make his mood better.
"Is it really okay to leave Ten alone?" Mark asked once everyone finished their meals.
"It is," Yukhei answered, "I've visited him before breakfast."
"He talked to you?" Sicheng asked, one eyebrow raised.
Yukhei nodded, initiating Sicheng to roll his eyes. Sicheng did that too – but in his case, he wanted to apologize and make up with him. But, Ten was still being petty and left Sicheng hanging in front of his room for fifteen minutes straight. Sicheng tried to swallow all his pride and talked through the door, but no answer at all. He knew Ten was awake since he could hear some noises inside, but instead of giving him a chance to talk, he gave him a silent treatment and it was something that Sicheng could not stand. He hated it.
"Don't think too much about it. He just needed some time to calm down," said Yukhei, trying to reassure his best friend. "And he told us to have fun even without him, so cheer up everyone."
Sicheng rolled his eyes again. "PMA much?"
"Come on, this is a summer vacation and everyone should be happy, okay?"
"Yukhei's right," said Jungwoo, quietly amazed by how positive Yukhei could be. He knew Yukhei was a typical social butterfly who had a lot of friends and at first, he wondered if all of his friends only wanted his money. But then he realized, perhaps this kind of attitude that drew people close to him; an attitude that made him favored by everyone around.
"Let's go now before we waste any more time," Yukhei continued.
Sicheng sighed as Yuta patted his back, calming him and his anger. "Okay, sorry," he muttered. He swore he was not usually like this, but it bothered him that one of his best friends called him an asshole – especially when he knew he wasn't fully at fault. Therefore, Yukhei was right and he should not ruin the mood even more, so he shook his head before a smile showed up on his face. "Let's go," he said.
Jungwoo wheezed.
He's still only twenty one yet by the moment his foot finally reached the top of the waterfalls, he realized he was not that young anymore. It was fun at first, when they started the day with yachting at Iriomote and kayaked on a calm river by the falls. He laughed a lot and got super excited when Yukhei told him that they would hike through the tangled jungle. Little did he know, hiking from the forest to the top of the waterfall for more than one fucking hour could be traumatizing.
The trail was indeed well-kept and even beginners could complete it, but Yukhei still made sure to keep Jungwoo safe by holding his hand and helping him to hike. It was a win-win solution for both of them, though, as Yukhei could hold Jungwoo's hand for hours and Jungwoo could make sure his life would not end there.
The good thing was, the view from the top of the falls really worthed the wheezes, complaints, sighs, and all the efforts they put in. They were awarded with some great views of the tree-clad mountains and ocean beyond them. But unfortunately, there were no fences near the edge of the cliff, so Jungwoo could see the forest right away when he looked down and it frightened him.
