The sun made its usual laugh on this bright and warm day. The town bustled as people went about their business. As they did, the students at the DWMA went about their day as well. During break before their class, Soul and Maka gathered with their friends Black Star, Tsubaki, Liz, Patty, Kid, and Crona. They have told them about the new person they met last night, but not about their condition. For what they knew, Soul and Maka saw the victim at the Nurse's office, resting. And that was the only time they've seen them.

"So have you checked on them yet?" Black Star asked. Tsubaki looked over his shoulder to gain better eye contact with Maka.

"Yeah, it sounded like they went through a lot last night." She said, looking concerned. Maka shook her head.

"No, we haven't been able to yet." She replied. Soul leaned back in his seat as he stretched a bit.

"But we'll do that after class. They should be awake by now." Soul said. Kid sighed.

"Let's hope so." Kid spoke up. "And when you do, be careful with how you approach them. They might be afraid after the whole ordeal."

Patty then giggled in excitement.

"I can't wait to meet them when we get the chance!" She tittered. Liz smiled.

"Uh-huh. It'll be nice to have a new face around here." She added. Behind her, Crona stayed quiet. They fidgeted with their hands. Maka looked over at him.

"Crona?" She asked a little concerned. Crona snapped out of his stare and looked at Maka. "Is everything okay?"

"Y-yeah." Crona replied, but clearly something was his mind.

"But?" Maka edged.

"But, what if...?" Crona continued, "This person is someone like.... Like..."

They couldn't finish the sentence, but everyone knew what he meant. Medusa. Before, when she was around, she... caused a lot of problems. Maka smiled sympathetically to Crona before she answered.

"It will be okay, Crona." Maka told them. "If they are like that? We'll know."

"I highly doubt they're anything like that witch though." Soul said, looking at Crona. "When we first saw them, they couldn't defend themselves."

"That's true." Kid replied. Soon, the doors opened as the skidding of a wheely chair could be heard. It was Professor Stein.

"Alright, everyone in your seats please." Stein called out to the class. Soon, everyone sat down to get ready for the lesson. As Stein continued to talk, Maka looked at her book as she took notes. Though she tried to keep busy, she couldn't help but feel excited to properly meet the person she saved last night.

Meanwhile, in the Nurse's Office, Nygus was trying to figure out who this person was that was resting. From what she gathered, they were around sixteen, maybe even seventeen years old. They had been walking for so long that their feet needed to be bandaged. And they were really warm. During the time they were resting, Nygus put cold and damp rags to help them cool down a bit, which helped them a lot. Their clothes were also really old, so they were changed into a temporary gown.

Nygus sighed as she sat down at the desk close by to write down notes. All she needs to do is wait for them to wake up. Fortunately, this didn't take too long.

A small groan was heard as Nygus turned to the sound. Her patient had woken up. She comes over to greet them as they awake. Slowly but surely, they opened their eyes. They squinted in the brightness of the room and looked around before seeing Nygus.

"Good morning, young one." She said quietly. "How are you feeling?"

".... I feel dizzy." The patient said sitting up a little too fast. They stopped abruptly to hold their head. "OW!!"

They continued to groan as they pressed their head to try to relieve the pounding pressure. Nygus picked up the rag that fell off the patient and put it in the basin of cool water. Next to the basin was a pitcher of drinking water and a cup. She had it prepared if the patient would wake up. Now that they did, she poured some water for them to drink.

Nygus helped them to sit up again, carefully. When they did, she offered them the water. The patient hesitated at first before taking the cup. Slowly, they sipped the water. After that small drink, Nygus helped the patient back up a little so that they sat up against a pillow.

Once they were comfortable, the patient asked a question.

"Where am I?" they asked.

"You're in the DWMA." Nygus answered. They looked at her.

"What's that?" they asked. Nygus smirked slightly before she answered their next question.

"Also known as the Death Weapons and Meisters Academy." Nygus continued. "It's a place where people around your age learn how to become fighters. Or I guess warriors are a better word for it."

They looked fascinated with that answer before looking at their hands that are now in their lap. Now, it was Nygus' turn to ask some questions.

"If you don't mind, I'm going to ask you some questions." Nygus said, gaining the patient's attention. "If you're not comfortable with answering, you can say pass, okay?"

Her patient hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

"Alright." Nygus continued. "First question, what's your name?"

The patient thought about it. They looked confused and a little frightened. Nygus put her hand on their arm, startling them a little.

"Remember, you can pass if you aren't comfortable." Nygus reminded gently.

"No, I know." they said. "I just... I can't remember my name."

Nygus felt a little surprised, if not a bit concerned. Her patient had been out in the sun, but she didn't think it was too long that they stayed.

"I see." Nygus replied. "Then, maybe you can answer how you came into Death City?"

"Death City?" they asked. Nygus nodded.

"Death City is the place we are located." Nygus answered.

"Oh. Well..." the patient said. "This is going to sound crazy, but I remembered... walking here....?"

They winced as they waited for Nygus' reaction. Nygus' eyes were a bit wide with surprise.

"... all the way here?" Nygus asked.

"Yeah, heh." They chuckled nervously. "For around eight years, I guess."

Nygus almost jumped out of her skin. Eight years?! She thought before she felt her heart clench. Poor child.

"I'm so sorry." Nygus said. "It must have been traumatizing for your age."

"It's not bad really." they answered as they made their legs cross. "I wanted to leave."

Nygus became even more confused.

"At... age ten?" she asked. They looked at her in shock.

"NO! I was nineteen." they replied. Nygus looked at them with more concern.

"I think the heat got to you really badly." Nygus said. Shortly after she said that, there was a knock at the door. Both patient and nurse looked over at the doorway.

"Hello, Nurse Nygus." There was a man with a giant screw in his head with stitches on his coat and... probably sweater? Doesn't that screw hurt? The patient thought. After he walked in there was a girl with pigtails and a boy with white hair. The patient recognized them immediately.

"Soul? Maka?" the patient asked. Both Maka and Soul seemed surprised to see this patient know their names. Maybe they got it when the two were talking. How observant. Thought Maka. She had a feeling they will be a great friend.
