The Long War was a 500 year long war that started when the dwarven king Nollunbar accidently pushed the elven princes Larantia, his bride, of a cliff. The elves were angry and wanted to see Nollubar dead, but as you probably guest Nullunbar was not going to let himself be executed by them. That was the beginning of the war, the dwarves protecting their territory in the South, and the elves attacking the dwarven territories. You might think that the elves aren't peaceful if they were attacking the dwarves for so long, well they are and always have been a peaceful kind. The elves have never engaged in any conflict but The Long War. They did not wish to fight the dwarves to see bloodshed, but they just wanted justice. The elves had offered the dwarves a peace treaty in return for Nollunbar, but of course the dwarves, led by Nollunbar himself, refused. The problem with dwarves, although this also is the case with elves, is that they live so long. If dwarves lived to the age humans did, Nollunbar would never have lived even close to five hundred years and the war wouldn't have been such a long conflict. The same can be said for the elven king Vorulas, if he had died earlier the conflict would never have lasted as long as it did, he was the one who wanted justice and would not settle down until Nollunbar was dead. The war caused many deaths on both sides, but as the elves had a much larger population and were better fighters they became, only after 200 years, the winning side. Although the dwarves had a much larger supply of resources, they were in need of help. Nollubar, stubborn as always and determined as always refused to surrender, so he hired an army of nightlarian assassins. The dwarves could not pay for this army, at least not by themselves. They got financial support from a noble elven family, The Volantores. The Volantores wanted to see Vorulas, and his family, The Norvaldors, dead and wanted to become the new ruling dynasty. So it was that the head of the Volantores family, Lord Eldovan, made a pact with Nollunbar. He contacted Nollubar by sending an enchanted horse to the dwarven capital, the horse would be shot at the arrival, and then would be torn open from the inside as a cursed creature appeared from within. The creature looked like a dog without skin and had two devilish wings. The monstrosity flew up in the air towards the royal castle. It entered the throne room and transformed into a elfish figure, but unlike other elves this creature was anything but beautiful, you see, it had no skin. Nollunbar and his servants screamed at the sight. The flesh like creature greeted Nollunbar with an elegant bow. He said 'I am the servant of the true king, the true ruler of the East and the elf whom will rule the elves and stop this useless war.' 'If you have come to kill me I won't let you!' said Nollunbar as his guards entered the room. The creature answered 'I do not wish to see you dead, nor does my master. I have not come to kill and I'm not intending to, I have come to save you.' Nollunbar stood up from his throne and looked at the creature. 'I see, my spies have told me of the true elven king. I would prefer to see somebody sitting on the throne whom does not want me dead, but sadly I know that that will never happen. Your master will never rule the Odolian sea, nor the six great cities of Altranash. The Norvaldors reign is long from over, they have ruled for thousands, tens of thousands of years, and they will continue to do so.' The fleshy monster laughed 'Don't you see why I have come here, why if not to kill you would I come to this hideous land of rocks and mines? I have come to offer you a pact, a way to win this war.' 'Continue', said Nollunbar, now suddenly interested, and slightly insulted too if I might add. 'Lord Eldovan of house Norvaldor wishes to support you in this war. He is the third wealthiest elf in Alorai and you are the richest and most influential dwarf on the continent. Together you could gather a sum of gold and treasures large enough to hire an army of 700 000 nightler assassins. Even Vorulas his army combined with the crowns army don't stand a chance against a force of such massive skill and proportion. If you want to rule, take this opportunity and rule, don't wait, for Vorulas does not wait. If you want to live, live, but make sure it lasts!' Nollunbar did not know what to say, how was it possible that he had not thought of this idea earlier. 'Go to your master and tell him he has made a new friend, but he must come to visit his friend, for to fully trust a friend you must spend time with him. I will see lord Eldovan here, in the castle, the next full moon, and that will be soon. I estimate that your master has about five days to get here, if he doesn't get here before the moon is fully visible, there will be no alliance and I will most likely die and House Volantores will never rule. But I assume that that shall not be a problem.' He paused and looked the creature in the eye. 'The sigil of house Volantores is a horse isn't it?' 'Yes, the horse of Altranash.' answered the creature. 'Well then, I hope Altranash his horse has had a good dinner, for he will need it if he wishes to arrive here on time.' Nollunbar rose from his throne and stept towards the doors. The doors opened and Nollubar disappeared from the fleshy elven like creatures view. The creature jumped out of the window and spread it's wings.
