A young boy stared through the tinted windows of his home. No light could ever penetrate through, even the moonlight. It was for the safety for his whole family, however it was quite boring being stuck in the same place for at least 5 hours when you are unable to fall asleep. His eyes wander to a figure in his garden. "I wonder who that is?" he thought to himself as he got up from his bed.

He walked down the stairs, the wooden floorboards creaking as he tried his best to not wake up his sleeping parents. He stepped downstairs as he inched closer to the door, he heard the soft humming from which he assumed was from the figure he saw upstairs. He decided to ignore his parents' claims about the night being a curse and opened the door.

He stood under the covers of his porch as he stared at the figure. It was a little girl, humming to herself a beautiful tune. The girl was playing with a doll , the boy stared at her before gathering up all his courage to talk to her. "Hello! Why are you out here at night? Mama said it was dangerous for us to be out here at night." he asked . The girl jumped back in surprise, she stared at him confused as she replied, "But Papa told me that I can go play during the night?"

The two kids stared at each other. The small girl had jet black hair, blue eyes and pale skin whilst the boy had brown hair, black eyes and a slightly tanned skin. "What's your name? Mine is Taiyo," the little boy would say as he stepped out from the porch. Sadly, before the girl could even reply he collapsed onto the floor. The curse of the moon took effect instantly as he fell into a deep slumber. The little girl panicked as she didn't know what to do, she stood there shocked, "Why did he fall..? Is he not like me or is it that he was scared of me," the thoughts raced through her head as she grabbed Taiyo by the arm and started to drag him back inside.

She pushed opened the slightly ajar door and pulled him inside. She managed to drag him onto the couch as she looked around. It was the first time she was in someone else's house, "Taiyo... what a nice name." That was what she wanted to say before he collapsed. She looked around before finding a piece of paper. She jotted down some words before folding the paper up and placing it near Taiyo. After that she left the room and closed the door.

The next morning, Taiyo awoke upon the couch of his living room. He looked at the clock above the fireplace, it was 9:30 am, his parents must've left for work already. He looked around before he saw the plate of food on the table before him, he reached over to grab it before he heard the rustling of paper. He saw the edge of the paper poking out from beneath him, he grabbed it and opened up the folded paper.

Within the paper was written with a messy but readable handwriting,

'Hi, My name is Shadow. I like your name Taiyo.. Could we meet again?'

Taiyo jumped in happiness, finally someone to play with. He waited outside the whole day but nobody ever came. He was so upset and frustrated that he slept early that night. Meanwhile Shadow was waiting outside for him all night but he never came, she thought that she must've frightened him and felt deeply saddened. This cycle continued for 3 years before Taiyo moved away to live in another part of the city. Their never-ending game of hide and seek has officially begun with no one being the winner nor the loser.
