*I wonder how far everyone is going to come during the year. Maybe that Midoriya kid will learn to stop breaking his bones when he uses his quirk.* I was on my way to the make-up courses scheduled for the first part of my day. Unfortunately, I was so busy thinking about my new classmates that I didn't see someone walking the other way with her eyes closed.

**Bang** **Crash**

"Ow, what was that?" she asked to no one in particular. *Took the words right out of my mouth. Ow.* I looked at her and was surprised to see she had black, cat-like ears and a tail swaying behind her. When she opened her yellow and gold eyes, I saw an overlay of her with a little girl of about four for a second. *What was that? I feel like I should know who that was.* I blinked and looked down to see the papers that we had both been carrying were strewn about us haphazardly. "I'm sorry, I should have been looking where I was going," she tried apologizing, but I quickly started signing.

"No, I'm sorry. I should have been looking but I guess my mind was elsewhere," I started only to look up at her face and get a confused look in return. "Uh. I'm sorry what?" she asked. I grabbed my pencil and a spare sheet of paper, checking to see that it was mine, and wrote, 'Do you not understand sign language?' Promptly showing her what I wrote. "No, I don't. It's on my bucket list though. I just haven't found someone to teach me yet." Was her response with a close-eyed smile. I again saw the overlay and thought, *What's going on I feel like I should recognize her, but I can't think why.* It took us about a minute to finish picking up the papers and in that time, I learned that her name was Tora Matsumoto, she was in Class 1B, and her quirk was 'Flaming Panther' she basically had a panther version of a werewolf quirk with the option of either monster or animal form and could light herself and objects she touches on fire with extremely limited control over the flames. This combo ability came from her panther quirk mother and fire quirk father. I also told her my name and the fact that I was in Class 1A starting today.

"Today? But classes started yesterday, weren't you here then?" I shook my head 'no' and wrote 'There were some things that were a bit off about my test. Mainly the fact that I broke the record for the most points by about 200.' She choked a little when she read that and while she recovered, I looked at the clock, 'Um should you be somewhere by now or are we still between classes?' She read that then hurriedly glanced at the clock and started rushing to grab the remaining papers then bowing, apologized and ran to class. *What a cute girl,* I thought smiling, only to catch myself, *Wait what? What am I thinking? She was nice and all but . . . Oh I guess she is kind of cute.* I sighed just thinking about it and continued on to my make-up class. Only once glanced at the last thing I wrote that she didn't get to read, 'I could teach you sign language if you wanted me to.'

Time skip to lunchtime

"Well, this is Jiro, Hagakure, Mina, and Tsu. And of course, you know me." Yaoyorozu said as she introduced me to her friend group. "Hello as you heard this morning my name is Kuro Tatsuki but please call me Kuro," I told everyone trying to be polite. "Um why am I the only guy here?" I asked after looking around at the other tables in the cafeteria and noticing that all of my classmates that are sitting with me are girls. "That's because w-" Yaoyorozu started only for Mina to cut her off.

"Because we wanted to ask you some questions before anyone else," she said as she got right in my face causing me to abruptly lean backward against my seat and unconsciously activate my quirk in a unique way. "Um, Kuro? Why are your eyes glowing?" I responded by signing, "Acid." While pointing at her. "Huh?" All five of them looked at me strangely as I looked around at all of them signing the main parts of their quirks as I did so, "Soundwaves/vibrations. Invisibility. Frog. Creation."

"Um, I think I speak for all of us when I say; how did you do that?" Yaoyorozu asked me when I powered down. "By focusing my energy into my eyes, I can see other people's energy flowing through their bodies and that allows me to guess at the main aspects of a person's quirk," I explained, "yeah my energy quirk has a LOT of uses, but the drawbacks are . . . severe. To say the least." I paused so that they could digest this new information and decided to look around at the other students in the cafeteria. I saw teenagers of all sorts, every shape, size, and color under the sun was in this room, and that was just looking at their faces, not even taking into account their personalities. When I heard Mina start talking again, I turned my attention back to my table.

"So, on that note I for one can't help but think about the assessment test yesterday. I for real thought that Mr. Aizawa was going to expel Midoriya when he came in last."

"Yeah. I'm sorry again I really should have said something when I realized he wasn't serious about it." Yaoyorozu replied. I tapped on her shoulder to get her attention when I heard that. "Yaoyorozu . . . I hate to tell you this, but he wasn't kidding when he said that. He really was going to expel someone if he saw they didn't have potential. Last year he expelled the whole class because he thought they didn't have any. So far about them he was right." They could tell from my face alone that I was serious, and that got me horrified looks in return, and Yaoyorozu even blanched.

"So why didn't he expel Midoriya like he said he would?" Tsu asked with her finger on her chin. I just shrugged, "he told me that Midoriya's potential wasn't zero, so he let him stay." After that we started talking about various different things it was about ten minutes until the bell rang that I started to feel like someone was staring at the back of my head. Curious I turned around to see a blondie and Matsumoto both looking at me. The blondie had an expression I couldn't quite place, something between spite and cockiness, and Matsumoto was looking at me like she was trying to figure me out. *What's with that? And why do I still feel like I should know her?*

"Wait a minute. How do you know all of this stuff and we didn't?" Mina asked me. "Uh maybe because he's my adoptive father." They just looked at me strangely. "It's just one surprise after another with you huh?" I cocked my head to the side thinking, after a second, I answered, "Yeah pretty much. But to be fair you guys did surprise me too."

Jiro evidently decided to speak up and asked, "What do you mean we surprised you?" I turned to her while staying still so the others could see my hands, "I saw the assessment test results and not only is most everyone really strong to begin with, but all of you are really ingenious with how you use them to their fullest right now." They all just looked at me. "How do you mean?" Jiro asked me. I thought for a sec then started, "Well you each focus on what you're good at and use it to supplement your weaknesses. I know because I also watched your entrance exams. ALL of your exams." While they looked at me, I started thinking about why who that little girl I keep seeing is. Until the bell broke my chain of thought.

"Time to go," Yaoyorozu said cheerfully. *I wonder why she's so happy. Oh, right it's hero class next period.* "Maybe we'll get to see you in action live this time Kuro," she added as we walked. I just smirked, *These kids have no idea what's in store for them. This is gonna be fuuunnn~.*
