CHAPTER SIX

I SIMPLY rolled my eyes and stated what happened to Travis. Kahit naman na ayaw kong sabihin sa kaniya wala din akong magagawa kasi pipilitin at pipilitin niya parin akong magsalita.

I sighed. "And that's what happened."

"That's it?"

Aba. Chismoso lang ang peg natin Mr. Villacorta?

"Yeah, that's it."

After that, our dinner continued.

You know what? It's an awkward situation for me. Tahimik lang kasi kaming kumakain. No talks at all. I didn't even know that they could slice and eat a steak politely habang ako ay hirap na hirap sa ginagawa ko and takot at the same time na gumawa ng ingay sa ginagawa ko.

To break the silence I opened a topic para naman kabuhay-buhay ang pagkain namin even thou nahihiya ako.

"Uhm, Tita," panguna ko.

"Yes, hija?"

Pinunasan ko pa muna ang bibig ko bago akong magsalitang muli.

"You do have a business, right?"

Ano ba namang tanong 'yan, Clarity. Malamang. His son is a business man, probably she is too.

"Uh-huh. I have," pasimple niyang sagot habang ngumunguya. "Why did you ask?"

Nahihiya ko namang pinagsiklop ang dalawang palad ko sa ilalim ng lamesa.

"I was wondering po kasi Tita if you can share or teach me some of your business skills. I'm planning to enter the world of business po kasi."

"Oh, really? That's great. Pwede kayong maging mag partner ng asawa mo when it comes to business matter kung ganon 'cause you have the same taste. Right, son?" Baling niya kay Travis na ngayon ay may kung anong ginagawa sa cellphone nito.

Siniko ko naman siya sa bandang giliran niya kaya napasimangot siya at agad na tinignan ang kaniyang Ina.

Aw, cute. Wait what? Gross.

He raised his eyebrow on Tita. "What?"

"See. That's why I hate that behavior of yours. How many times do I have to tell you to pay attention everytime na kasama mo ako? Hindi ka ba nahihiya sa asawa mo sa pinapakita mong behavior ha, Travis?" Litaniya ng kaniyang Ina.

I secretly laughed at Travis.

"She's not even my wife, Mom," depensa ni Travis.

"But she's your soon to be. So fix yourself at makihalubilo ka sa'min," maawtoridad na ani ni Tita.

"So, where we're we again? Ah, sa business matter."

Tita opened the business topic again while Travis just continued agreeing to what had his Mother said. They even argue a bit but it ended nicely. Unti-unti naring nagiging madaldal si Travis at minsan he's giving me some advices.

Puro tawanan na ang na ganap when Tita told me about Travis' childhood stories. Even tho Travis is getting irritated wala siyang magagawa kasi under siya kay Tita.

Tita cleared her throat as she begun to ask me something. "Clarity. You do know that you're getting married to my son, right?"

I was stunned. "Wait. What?" I curiously looked at Travis pero nag iwas lang siya ng tingin.

"Why is there something wrong between the two of you? Bakit parang ayaw niyong magpakasal?"

Why haven't Travis told me about this? Akala ko ba pretend girlfriend lang ang gagawin ko? Pero bakit may kasalan?
