PROLOGUE - The Creeping Roof
The children walked over the branches.
They swung from the vines and toppled down once they were satisfied.
They laughed and played and never saw it to be anyone else's way.
The children took each other, hand in hand, and skipped over to the house for supper.
They sat down and laughed while playing fun hand games.
They waited for their mother to finish microwaving the leftover lasagna from the previous night. However, the children grew restless.
They knocked over vases, cups, and plates.
They tugged at their hair until it came out with ruby red blood on the receiving end.
They screeched and cried and banged the table.
Their mother pounded her fist on the kitchen counter and the children ceased.
The mother told them to sit down and eat the food before them, as they ate the mother gave them their medicine and they smiled. "Goodnight mommy," they said in unison.
They held their hands together and walked upstairs to sleep.
Their small breaths could be heard from over the house.
Meanwhile, no one knew that I was right next door patiently waiting.
Waiting for it to finally be my turn.
Waiting for my door to swing open and let the floodgates pour through.
When would it be my chance? I suppose I'll just have to ask mother..
