"You weren't lying when you said you'd bring me back here again." Dayeon gazed past the dandelions.
"Of course I wasn't." Chaehyun munched on the bread Dayeon had gotten for her from Hikaru's cafe.
The duo were strolling along the familiar rows of dandelions. Chaehyun wanted to take Dayeon back to the field where they were fortunately reunited. Spring was nearly coming to an end and the sun was shining brighter than usual, also considering that the sun was nearly setting. Both of them had their hands just above their eyes to cover the blinding sun- or well, both of them used to. Dayeon had offered to let Chaehyun wear her cap to block the sunlight. She even insisted when Chaehyun refused to, and Chaehyun did end up giving into the blonde.
"So, what moment are you taking me back to?"
Chaehyun laughed. "Back to the bench near the gazebo. Did you bring your headphones?"
"Mhm. In the backpack." Dayeon pointed to her backpack that was hanging on her shoulders.
Shortly, they had reached the top of the hill which Dayeon seemed to hate climbing. She couldn't help but wonder what Chaehyun was up to. Recently, it seemed she always had something prepared for her, or some little gift for her. Perhaps they were going to reminisce about the past together or even retrace the smallest memories. Though, Dayeon didn't fully understand why there would be such a need for that. The blonde followed Chaehyun to the gazebo, the older one looking back at Dayeon for a second. Dayeon smiled and let out a soft chuckle.
"What's funny?" Chaehyun asked, a sprinkle of a threat in her voice. Dayeon slid her hands in her pockets.
"Nothing. You look cool with the cap on, especially with your dress. I don't understand how you wore the exact same dress everyday, but I won't question it. Not this time."
"Good. It was a bit tiring, answering your tons of questions. What goes on in that brain of yours?"
They shared smiles as they stood before the gazebo, where they had last stargazed. Dayeon set her backpack down on the bench. You could say her backpack was pretty much special. She brought it anywhere she went, especially with Chaehyun. It had begun to lose its past vibrant, popping color and is now dusty and dull.
"Do you still wonder why I never appeared in your photos?" Chaehyun blurted the question. Dayeon gazed at her, the eyes of the older looking of pure innocence and her linked hands looking of polite curiosity.
"Time to time, I guess. Whenever I look at that mysterious broken camera on the dusty shelf, I do. And it feels like I abandoned it."
And to be brutally honest, Dayeon hated that feeling. The old camera contained memories that she would prefer to be vivid and last long, even though she knows they could last longer in her own head. It contained moments in time.. with Chaehyun.. wherein she could possibly never relive those same moments ever again. If her happiness came from the memories in the camera, her happiness purely came from Chaehyun. But the camera wasn't able to capture any more of it, and could only hold the history of the pair. The history that was grievously cut short. Just like any history book, it would remain on the shelf.
"I have an answer."
That was all it took for Dayeon's full attention to be captured. Her eyes had slightly widened and her breath hitched. "You do?"
Chaehyun nodded her head as she approached Dayeon's backpack, unzipping it and searching through it. Also taking the cap off and shoving it inside the backpack. "But first, I'd like to do something before I tell you."
"What is it?" Dayeon asked, eager to get it done so she could finally get the answer to a question that bothered her the most. She watched Chaehyun pull out the small set of headphones and an ipod. The older one connected the ipod and the wire of the headphones.
As she approached Dayeon, she scrolled through playlists for a single specific song while the headphones dangled on her fingers. Dayeon found herself falling deeply for the girl all over again, despite knowing their love is apparently forbidden. In a time like this, she couldn't let the fact get to her, but for the longest time she had been ignoring her heartache. At one point she even thought that maybe Chaehyun had only said that as an excuse to stall for whatever reason. It was clearly a way of denial for Dayeon.
Dusk began to fall, and the lights stretched across poles and hanging on wires flickered on. Chaehyun tapped on the certain song she wanted Dayeon to listen to. She carefully set the headphones on the blonde's head, letting the ear cups comfortably cover her ears. Chaehyun adjusted the volume so that when she played the music, it wouldn't obliterate her eardrums.
"Am I just listening to a song you recommend?" Dayeon questioned as she watched Chaehyun's every move. The older girl hummed for a moment, thinking about her response as she played the song and slid the ipod into Dayeon's pocket.
"Perhaps? That's not all though." She took Dayeon's hands and wrapped them around her waist. Smiling out of embarrassment, her own hands lifted and wrapped around Dayeon's neck. "I'll follow your lead."
As the song played, Dayeon was smitten. Chaehyun was at it again, picking at her, making her heart flutter, and stopping time just for the both of them. It felt like they were the only two individuals in this world, not caring enough about it due to being lost in each other's enchanting eyes. At this very moment, Dayeon was quick to decide ignoring what Chaehyun said about their love being forbidden. She could care less. All she desired was to stop shutting her tingly feelings down ever since the confession last night. After all, she was reliving a memory she thought she could never.
