Although I wanted to hide in my room forever, I eventually had to come out so I could grab a plate of dinner. Cameron had accompanied me, but we had the unfortunate timing to come right as my dad and Emily were leaving the dining room.

"(Name), darling! It's so good to see you again!" Emily stated, hurrying to me and bringing me in for a hug, "I appreciate you letting me have some alone time with your father; he truly is an amazing man."

As awkward as the hug was, I waited it out for Emily to pull away. I know Emily doesn't have any ill intent, and I have to remind myself she's not choosing for my dad to not be contacting me as often; she doesn't deserve my frustration.

"Y-Yeah, he sure is..."

My dad smiled softly, seeming glad that I was getting along with Emily. Still, why wasn't he saying anything to me himself? He's really been acting odd lately...

"Hey (Name), you should come get some food before it gets cold." I heard Damien say as he appeared from the dining room.

He seemed to be in better spirits now; I'm glad to see that.

"Oh, right..."

Moving past Emily and my father, Cameron and I both entered the dining room where a plate of food was quickly provided. I did my best to hide the fact I was still frustrated with my dad, but given my mediocre acting skills I was quickly found out.

"(Name), what's got you so gloomy? Are you upset that our parents are back?" Damien questioned.

"No, that's not it... It just feels like my dad's been avoiding interacting with me since he met Emily. I know they're in love, and I'm happy for him, but it's like he's doing everything he can to not talk to me..."

Damien frowned softly, glancing at Cameron before turning back to me. He took one of my hands in his, holding it gently.

"If you want I can give him a good talking to; maybe even get Emily involved. I'm sure we can figure something out. Just leave it to me."

Standing up, Damien left the room. He had already finished his food before we had even arrived, and despite not wanting any more confrontations, I just decided to let him be. I doubt anything I said would change the outcome.

"How about we get out of the house? Staying here will only make it harder to get your mind off of this issue?"

I never expected that Cameron of all people would say something like this; he just didn't seem like the person to ever suggest going out where other people would be.

"But I thought you hated going out where people would be."

"I do, but I'll do it if it's to help you. Aren't siblings supposed to look out for each other?"

I smiled softly. Cameron was much nicer than he seemed underneath his anti-social, irritable self.

"I suppose so... and a drive around this new area would be helpful since I'll be living here..."

Cameron nods, responding after finishing his last bite of his dinner. How did he eat all his food so fast?

"It's alright; there's no rush to finish your food. I'll go grab some things; just come out when you're done."

And with that I was soon left in the room alone, my only company the food I ate. I tried to not think of the issues I've been having with my father lately as I ate the delicious food. The resort food, and now this... I don't think I'll ever be able to return to normal food.

Finishing my meal, I left the dining room where Damien was waiting for me. He seemed irritated, and I could only wonder what had happened; did our parents run off?
