The girl in the band

Luz:

*beep beep beep*

Luz looks over to see her alarm clock going off on her night stand next to her new bed, she groans and stands up from her bed tripping over her unpacked boxes on the floor, she sighs and looks down wondering why she even brought all this stuff with her. She walks over turning off her alarm and sighs, why did she have to move right before her junior year? why couldn't she stay with her mom? Luz's mom is a nurse in the army and she felt bad for moving Luz around so much so she sent her daughter to live with a family friend, Edalyn Clawthorne, or as everyone else called her "Eda the owl lady" as she had an obsession with anything owl.

Luz walked into her new bathroom where her school clothes were hanging up and jumped into the shower, she does her usual routine before climbing out and wiping off the bathroom mirror. She looks at herself and puts on a fake smile, "Maybe it won't be so bad, maybe I'll actually make friends this time. " she says to herself before she gets dressed. She puts her hair in her usual style before groaning and fluffing it up with her hands. She walks out of the bathroom and goes downstairs to the kitchen where Eda has prepared breakfast.

"Hey kid, I made you some eggs and apple juice, I'm not too sure what you like but we can go shopping this weekend and get some stuff ok?" Eda says handing Luz a plate, she nods and sits down eatin silently, Eda wonders if she was going to be like this until she went back with her mom, she really hoped not. Eda wanted nothing more than for Luz to be happy and honestly she really wants to be the one to make that happen. She ruffled Luz's hair before walking to the front door, "Hey Luz, I won't be here when you get home I have work today so just make sure to feed King ok?" She walked out without another word.

Luz looked over at King and wondered where in the hell Eda got him, he was like a talking dog with horns and Luz really didn't care much for the thought of having to clean up after him. She mumbled okay before she got up cleaning her plate from breakfast and walked out the front door towards her school. Hexside High School here she comes.

Luz stares at the front doors of the giant school and wonders how she ever got into a place like this, how could Eda afford it? She tales a deep breath and starts walking up the stairs, as soon as she reaches the top she goes to open the door when it suddenly flies open hitting her and knocking her off balance, great, one more thing to go wrong in her life. "Oh my god I'm so sorry are you okay?" Luz looked up to see a girl about her age standing over her, she had short brown hair and Green circular glasses. Luz stood up and the stranger reached out her hand, "Hi I'm Willow, I'm really sorry I didn't mean to hit you with the door." Willow? that's and odd name. "Hi Willow, I'm Luz, Luz Noceda." Luz says taking the girls hand.

"Ah, you must be new here." The girl chuckles. "Am I that obvious? I thought I was hiding it pretty well." Luz says laughing rubbing the back of her head. Willow starts to talk about the school and give Luz the grand tour of the place show in her where all her classrooms will be at and things like the cafeteria and library. As Willow is showing Luz around they run into Willow's friend Augustus. "Hi I'm Augustus but everyone calls me Gus." He says holding his hand out, Luz takes his hand and introduces herself and they continue the tour, Luz feels a connection to these two already an she thinks maybe school here won't be so bad after all.

After school Luz decides she wants to check out more of the school, she starts wondering around and soon finds herself walking towards the football field, she hears what seems to be the marching band practicing so she decides to go check it out, she walks over to the stands and finds a spot where she is comfy with her book, she is in the midst of reading when she hears a girl commanding the entire band, her voice was strong and powerful. She looked up to find that the lead drummer for the band shouting commands and the rest of the drum line, now Luz didn't know anything about band but she did know about sports, and that girl had to be the captain of the band (she doesn't know what the person in charge is called).

She finds herself mesmerized by the drummer with her Green hair in a short ponytail and her purple shirt, she noticed her eyes that looked like honey in the sun, the way her body moved with the drum on her shoulders, Luz was completely in awe of this girl. She quickly realizes she's been staring at her for far too long and opens her book and starts reading, she gets through about 2 pages before she realizes that she isn't focused at all on the book and pulls out her sketchbook instead, she draws for a few minutes when she realizes that she was drawing the drummer girl from before. She looks around quickly making sure she was alone before she keeps drawing. After about 15 more minutes the band stops playing and she looks up to find that they are all heading back inside to put their band gear away.

She watches her walk off the football field before hitting herself in the head with her book and groaning. Of course they would have a cute band kid here, why couldn't she just get moved to a school of ugly boys who all wanted to play golf or something? She packs up her bag before she starts her walk back to her new house, she sighs and puts in headphones listening to music thinking about the girl from the band.
