Chapter 1:
“The worst is over now,
and we can breathe again.
I wanna hold you high,
and steal my pain away.
Theres so much love to learn,
and no one left to fight.”
He sat at the small table listening to his phone, making sure he had everything
for class as he needed it. His pencils, paper, and textbook littered the table in a
more orderly fashion than most college students ever would. As he looked around
rather quickly, he spotted a figure not far away from him; but being shy decided to
better use his peripherals rather than face the person directly.
As his gaze seemed to widen, he caught a fuller glimpse of the person across
the room. It was one of his dorm-mates, but he couldn't quite remember where he
had seen him or who he even was. Well, to him he identified the person enough and
turned back around to his desk to work and continue with inventory.
Time seemed almost to slow down to a halt where he was. His dorm-mates
gaze bothered him and made him slightly uncomfortable, shattering the small
amount of security he had managed to muster up lately. In that instant, he did what
he normally does. He packed up his things neatly, and skirted well over half an hour
early to class. As he thought to himself, there would still be a class going on, but he
could wait somewhere else, anywhere else for that matter.

“Dude, do you like him? Cause if you like him you should just go talk to him. I
mean, you see him almost every day so far either coming out of the showers or in
that study room you guys have on your floor.”
“Yea, I know, but every time I come near him he seems to always disappear
right as I get enough sense to talk to him, like this is some kind of game and he
knows I want to talk to him man. It sucks massive man.” Dan said to his friend as
they were both nearly breaking the controllers in their hands. Both sat and played
Super Mario Smash Bro’s, fighting one another, which Dan enjoyed playing with
anyone.
“What I don’t understand dude is that you're not even a science major...why in
hell would you go into the science department like a creep. Everyone there knows
you’re not a bio or chem or math major.”
