Everyone relaxes and starts packing their stuff as the bell for lunch rang. Carrying my books to my locker I push them in and head out to the cafeteria. Getting my usual order which is a salad and some chicken soup.
I make my way to my table which had I guess you can call them my friends even though none of us do any friendly stuff at all. Everyone in this table group is a top scorer and all they ever talk about is work or something study related but I'm not complaining cuz the conversation strikes many interesting perspectives.
"So I heard you got assigned to represent the school." Sofie asked me.
"Uh yeah that's right." I say taking a bite of my salad.
"How is it like?"
"Pretty good I like how we need to come up with something impressive but not overdone at the same time, it's a bit of a challenge."
"Who's your partner." Amanda asks me and everyone's eyes focus on me.
"It's Raven."
"Who is Raven I don't think I've ever heard that name before?"
I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't.
"She is a top scorer according to the sister, she isn't very social I guess this is why we haven't heard of her too much."
"She's a top scorer, well that certainly makes this more suspicious because all the good students are in this group even the ones that aren't we know them." Haley says raising one eyebrow as the air gets a little tense.
"There are many people which score high that we don't know."
"I see well let's drop it for now, so how is this raven?"
"Yeah since we haven't ever heard of her I'm curious does she have any experience in this, is that why sister chose her specifically."
I bite my lip as I think of how to answer without making it sound like raven is a slacker, there are good people in this group but they can be quite judgemental when it comes to being on the high ground if anyone scores high then they pretty much have to make it their lifestyle to win these guys approval.
If the fact that she doesn't participate isn't bad enough she also told me she just does it cuz she doesn't wanna make any extra effort. If I tell them this then surely they will all burst out laughing and might even make fun of her.
"Uhm she's good at it her ideas are fresh and refreshing."
"Then how come we never heard of her and what's the reason that such an important task was assigned to her."
"Well we usually stay within our group maybe we never paid enough attention to anyone else and as for why she was chosen I think you should ask that to sister herself." I say this with a low tone as to show how I'm getting annoyed with all their questions.
