While Nyami loved and adored being in her avatar body, she made sure not to neglect her human form. Her hair was still bleached. She managed a slight tan from helping Grace outside on samples. She also worked out with Trudy to maintain her fitness. She got up early enough to shower and eat and overall stay healthy. Jake, on the other hand, ignored his human form. He unlinked and did his log but that was all. Jake was obsessed with being an avatar. Nyami loved that he loved it, but that wasn't who he was. She understood where he was coming from. He went from being a cripple to being a Na'vi hunter in what felt like a second. Time passed quickly which increased Nyami's need to get Jake to feel healthy.
Nyami explained her worries to the rest of the team one morning and decided to make a plan to get Jake to stay home for a day. The plan would affect all of them. Norm would make up the excuse that the link units had to update, if they skipped the update something could go wrong while linking and it could fry someone's brain. Unfortunately, all the units were linked so if one needed an update, they all did, meaning no one could link that day.
Jake didn't take it well and threw a fit. Nyami had to calm him down. They all ended up sitting in the tiny kitchen and discussed village life and how lessons were going. How their relationships with the clan were going and more. Sure, Grace still taught them a little bit about forest biology. How everything was connected and how Eywa was real. Truth was, Nyami never believed in a higher power. She believed in will power. If you wanted it to happen, you could make it happen. But something's just happen, Tom's death, Neytiri's sister. Death was maybe the only higher power Nyami believed in. Now that's all changed. She's seen the work of Eywa. The miracles and wonders of what she can do.
There was one thing Tsu'tey saw in both Nyami and Neytiri; that was a love for the forest and everything in it. Tsu'tey went out, searching for only what he needed. But Nyami made him stop to smell the roses, to see every detail. She went out with a mask on in human form. It was different to see Pandora with her own eyes. It wasn't as bright and she couldn't see that far. She'd grown into the habit of going barefoot everywhere, even as a human. They came to Pandora on May 17, 2154. It was now April 29 and everything was going swimmingly.
