Ok so maybe some secrets should not be revealed right now. Perci may have experience in comforting crying and angry children after wars, but she did not feel like opening a particular can of worms right now.

She reached Damien's door and knocked sofly. No response. She knocked again and this time the door slammed upon. There stood Damien, eyes burning with anger, confusion and something else Perci couldn't decipher.

"What do you want, Perci?", he spoke her name with so much venom that she flinched slightly.

"I just wanted to talk...clear up any misunderstandings you may have about me", Perci said, with slight hesitation in her voice that Damien paused at a bit. He studied her for a second, scoffed and then slammed the door closed.

She sighed. When was her life ever easy?

"I'm here for you, mon rayon de soleil", she called out, hoping he could hear her,
Perci knocked once softly.
No response.

She walked away, a stubborn hunch set to her shoulders, far from giving up.

.....

Damien was confused. And angry. Maybe embarrassed. And angry.

'Who was this woman to come into their house and act like she belonged? It took him and his... brothers months to feel like they belonged, acting with a sense of trepidation, but she comes waltzing in with that stupid confidence and swagger', he thought angrily, as he slammed the door in Perci's face.

'Who she to turn about their lives upsidedown? Why did Pennyworth suddenly become cold towards him?', he thought, slightly sad over the second part.

Thoughts ran through his mind at a quick pace.
Then he heard her call him "mon rayon de soleil". That sounded like... French..?Alas with all the training he got, he never had time to learn French.
Sounded unimportant anyways.

Those words kept ringing in his head the whole day.

....
