"I'm telling you, Tyler. One more mishap and you're fired" A booming voice warned. That's my boss, Levi. He was already giving me a daily lecture. Kinda normal for him, given I sucked at my job. I worked at a top secret organization called the AHS. It stood for American Hacker Society. If the name didn't give it away, we're american, and hack stuff. Mainly for money. Sometimes we do crazy things like farming top bitcoin investors computers of bitcoin. well, we try. The thing about my company, is that it sucks. The only reason it hasn't collapsed and failed is because it's being funded my one of the richest men in the world. None of us know who it is though. They do a good job at staying anonymous. "Are you gonna answer me?" Levi asked. I shrugged. Sure, I sucked at my job, but so did everybody else. Too bad he was SOOOO scared of them. He only picks on me. "Gonna play the quiet game, huh?" Levi asked. I nodded. I always refuse to talk to him. It pisses him off, which makes me happy. He glared at me for another 30 seconds. He scoffed. "Just go Tyler. Another mishap and you're fired, like I said. And fix that attitude!" He warned. I shrugged again. "Whatever" I answered. I walked out the room. The headquarters looked like a futuristic factory. People were rushing around, giant screens and security camera filled the silver walls. A giant mirror stood next to the main entrance. I walked to it. The room I existed was Levi's room, which is right across the entrance. I stared into the mirror at my messy crimson red hair, pale skin, seahawks jersey, and blue baggy jeans. My shoes were also crimson red. I smiled. The mirror then disappeared. Surprisingly, that was common. Everything was controlled by the Head Officials, who were constantly moving things. A computer screen made a loud buzzing sound, alerting everybody.
Attention! We are getting news of a stage 12 mission! all stage 3 and ups are required to participate. Come to the Head Officials Office Immediately.
Everybody gasped. Putting stage 3's into a stage 12 mission? Have they lost their minds? for context, there are 13 stages. All just called stages 1-13. Everybody starts as a stage 1, which means they only do stage 1 missions. Once they are ready, and show that they're ready, they go on to stage 2 and below. Stage 3 and below, and so on. I was a proud stage 7, which is weird given that I talked about how I sucked at my job, but you really ranked up if you didn't die or nearly kill everyone on your missions. It's weird, I know. After 3 minutes of resistance, people started marching to the Head Official's Office. I followed steadily. we made our way up 4 flights of metal stairs, making the entire headquarters filled with metal clanging. The head official's office was massive, so fitting all these people would be no problem. A bunch of stage 1's and 2's stayed behind, thankful for not having to participate. When we arrived, a giant monitor stood atop a wide desk with a hooded figure. "Hello" The monitor spoke, showing 0's and 1's. "As you saw, we have a stage 12 mission for all of you. Why? Because all of our stage 12's are dead". Everybody gasped. "So, we will give you 2 days to prepare. Pack all of your things, because this is dangerous. And if all of our stage 12's died, we pray that you guys don't end up like them" "So why don't the stage 1's and 2's have to do anything!?!?" A woman yelled. I could practically hear the monitor roll it's eyes. "Because they already have an important mission. They will be covering for you all" The monitor spoke. More collective gaps filled the room. "Ok! Anymore questions?" The monitor asked. Millions of hands shot up. But only one person spoke. Levi. "Excuse me, but must we send All of them to this mission? Time travel is a very drastic thing!" Levi spoke, concerned.Cries and surprised yelps erupted. "SILENT!!!!" the monitor yelled. The room grew silent. 'Well,m as Levi said, this will involve time travel. So since you already know now, I guess we can shorten your waiting time to 2 hours. We leave in 2 HOURS!" the monitor said sternly. Everybody whispered and murmured sadly. This may our last day, for goodness sake. The stage 12's are gone! Hopefully the stage 13's know what to do. Otherwise, this entire company will fall to pieces. 'and with that, you may go" The monitor said. Everybody ran out, towards the dorms. I followed. This was madness. It was happening so fast. I ran down the stairs and into my room on the 2nd floor. I jumped into bed. I had to take a mental note of everything that happened. The only thing I thought to bring was my phone and charger. also my airpods. I mean, this may be my last day alive, so what was the point? I felt like just sobbing loudly. I tried to, but I felt that would make things worse. I mean, I just have to learn to expect the facts.
