For fuck's sake. Who's crushing my damn skull? It's piercing my fucking head like a hot iron rod that was pulled from a blacksmith's forge. And why does my body ache and my stomach feel like it's holding sewage?
I jolt upright at my last memory of Xaxias at the castle, and something exploding. Twice. Though it's my head that explodes in pain at the sharp movement, and I can't see a damn thing-
I'm gonna hurl.
"Fucking Saints-" Someone's body slams into mine. I feel us both fall and grab up whatever I can fist. I end up landing onto their chest thanks to them twisting in the air, but it only rams their ribs into mine which strikes my diaphragm and the very breath keeping itself between my stomach uprooting itself and me holding it down.
"That is not how you bed my sister!"
My senses refocus at the sound of Branka's voice. My whole body still feels like I got stepped on by a Banevenin, but my vision kicks in, albeit slowly and with spots dotting nearly every part of it.Where the fuck are my other senses?
I look down at the body beneath me, then I really have to hurl. "What the fuck? Get off of me!"
"You're on me, asshole!" Henry yells.
I try to get myself off of him, but my arms shake trying to push myself off. "I can't get up," I say, my voice nothing but a whisper as fear strikes a blade in my head.
"You don't need to make excuses to stay on top, Nicoletti."
His words don't land their usual annoying blow. Not when my legs won't move and my arms can't even push up their own weight.
"Why can't I move?"Before he can answer another pair of hands slip beneath my shoulders and lift me up. My neck is weak but still lets me turn to see Benny through the blinking dark spots. He sets me down on a bed behind us. Based on the sheets that hang off of it, I'd say it's the one I fell off of.
"What in ten hells is going on?"
Benny keeps me sitting upright with his arm, which is infuriating because I don't need his damn help. "Just take some deep breaths."
"Don't tell me what to do, Bernard."
"Calm down, Rohana, they're only here to help."
"Help with what?" I ask Branka, finding her sitting in a chair by the bed. I look around to find us in a small room. The bed and chair are the only pieces of furniture aside from the desk in the corner. Nothing decorates the walls, and there are only two doors. One is opened to a bathroom, the other closed, and a window lets morning sunlight in.
Morning. But it was just setting...
"We blacked out, Ro."
I spin to her. "What?"
"You blacked out," Henry repeats. "Fell unconscious. Went night night-"
"I know what blacked out means, prick. I don't black out - none of us do."
"Well, you kind of all did."
"All? Who's all?"
"Okay, first, you need to lay back down, Ro. You're swaying."
"I'm not..." My words drift off as I stare at Branka's face and notice the slight kilter movement.
What the fuck?
Benny helps me to sit back against the headrest, and I let him if only to get the answers she'll refuse to give unless I do as she says. He's at least smart enough to just pick up the sheets and throw them on the foot of the bed. I would've given him a black eye if he tried to tuck me in like a child who had a nightmare.
