"I'm finally going to do it," Hikari said

School had been done for a couple of hours and it was now dark. She knew Takeru was always at the cafe by the pier on Friday nights, so it would be a perfect time to tell him. She had been debating telling him since freshman year so it hasn't been that long, it's only senior year.

"You're sure you're not going to chicken out again?" Taichi laughed.

Taichi was home from university for the weekend so he had been making fun of her the entire time she was trying to mentally prepare herself.

"He literally ripped through dimensions to rescue you from the dark ocean, if that's not love I don't know what is," Taichi said, throwing himself on the couch "You guys are like the definition of soulmates, even Koushiro knows that."

"But what if he just sees me as that sicky little girl he always has to save," Hikari said "Ugh I wouldn't have any doubts if I looked like Mimi."

"Don't say that Hikari," Taichi said sympathetically "If he doesn't like you he's wrong and dead."

"Stop that," Hikari said, slapping the back of his head as she walked by "Wish me luck, I'll be back later."

"Bye sis, careful waking in the dark!" Taichi shouted as she shut the door behind her.

She had kinda forgotten that it would be dark, she knew it was late but she hadn't thought about the dark. Everyone knew Hikari didn't like the dark but it was only a ten-minute walk anyway. She wasn't wearing anything special, just her blue school uniform with the black skirt and red ribbon. She had considered wearing something nice but she knew Takeru would still be in his uniform as well so she didn't care. Good thing because around five minutes after she left, it started to rain.

"You've got to be kidding me." Hikari said "At least I'm close to the cafe."

Hikari stopped in front of the cafe and glared into the window, he didn't seem to be there. She wondered where he was, had he just gone home? She turned her head towards the pier and let out a gasp. It was Catherine, as in the blonde DigiDestined Catherine from Paris. She was kissing him, she was kissing Takeru. She was cupping his face with her small hands pulling him down to her level. She didn't even know Catherine was in town. Hikari couldn't tell if he was enjoying it or not. He did seem surprised but he did nothing to stop her. She felt tears welling up in her eyes, the feeling of disappointment stabbing her in the heart. She wasn't sure if Takeru had liked her back or not however she never would have thought his heart belonged to Catherine. Clearly, she had made her presence known as they both turned their heads to look at her.

"Hikari, bonjour! Je ne t'ai pas vu, comment vas-tu ?" Catherine asked.

Catherine now had her hands wrapped around his neck still pulling him down to her height.

"Hika..." Takeru said quickly removing Catherine's hands off his neck and standing up straight.

"Je voulais te surprendre, je voulais passer du temps avec toi! You know, girl time!" Catherine said standing there with that smug little smile on her face.

Catherine and Hikari never really got along, fake it till you make it I guess. When Taichi and Takeru had gone to Paris they had met a cute little blonde girl named Catherine. Taichi had told Hikari that Takeru had kissed Catherine when they were there. Taichi had conveniently left out the part where he also kissed Catherine but she didn't care that much. She had confronted Takeru just out of curiosity and he told her it didn't mean anything. Obviously, he was lying.

"I'm sorry, I'll go. I didn't mean to interrupt." Hikari mumbled as she turned to walk away.

She started walking in the opposite direction trying her best to hold in the tears. As soon as she turned the corner she broke out into a sprint letting the tears run freely down her face. She was so angry. Angry at Catherine, angry at Takeru, and angry at herself. She was stupid to think he might like her back. Taichi had warned her that he was probably a player just like his brother, Yamato. She had reassured him that he wasn't like his brother, but now, she wasn't so sure.
