"Sigma..." Atsushi's reaction from Sigma's last words left him broken. He wanted to help Sigma. To save him and bring him in a better world. Sigma helped everyone and he never got help himself. Atsushi wanted to cry but couldn't, he didn't know Sigma as well as he wanted. He was happy when he found out Sigma was happy but of course after hearing his last words, he just didn't know how anymore how to react. He couldn't even bring Sigma back to life, not because he didn't want to. He couldn't, the port mafia made sure to keep the book after everything happened and they wouldn't do anything to it. Like Kyusaku. Only taking their strongest weapon out where there's no hope for them. Atsushi wanted Sigma back, just to show him there is hope for him.
"Well now here's our deal. I will get one of your workers because I not only kept them safe as much as I could. But I also helped you destroying the enemy" Mori told Fukuzawa, making sure to not add that his organization was also in danger at that time. Fukuzawa still knew but he kept quiet because he remembered he did the deal even before it was found out his old friend was the enemy. Now it was time to decide who will leave the armed detective agency and will join the Port mafia, with barely any chances of ever leaving it. Yosano and Dazai wouldn't leave the ADA, everyone knew so the chances of them ever leaving would be low. Tanizaki would've left the ADA to keep his friends out of the Port Mafia, he still thought he had nothing special in his ability. But he was currently under Yosano's care after something happened after fighting with Fukuchi, something terrible happened. Therefore, right now and probably for a longer while Tanizaki can't go to work and needs to stay under Yosano's care. And since Tachihara now works for both the Port Mafia and the Hunting Dogs, they can't wait for Tanizaki to get better soon. They need a new worker on the spot. There are multiple reasons why Kunikida and Atsushi can't leave. A biggest one is that Kunikida would do anything to stay in the ADA and he is not a person who would kill innocent people, his strict schedule can also be only done when he is in the ADA. For Atsushi, he doesn't want to get sold out as that is till a big thing happening. And the Port Mafia would rather sell Atsushi for more money for weapons than keeping the tiger man. Ranpo will also never leave the ADA because no matter what he will do, he would get kicked out of the Port Mafia, only because he would be considered too lazy. There doesn't seem to be anyone else left, so someone needs to sacrifice themselves even with their reason to stay in the Armed Detective Agency.
The worst-case scenario was about to happen. No one was ready to say goodbye, even if he was not the best person, he was still able to be an awesome person and was likable somehow. Dazai was leaving the Armed Detective Agency, going back to what he called prison. He would need to break the promise of Odasaku so that his newfound friends wouldn't need to suffer how he did when he was younger. Happy that he was able to help, even if it didn't help him and it would be just suffering for the most part. Everyone was still not ready to say goodbye, mainly Atsushi and Kunikida. Atsushi was able to have a life and be one of the most courage person in whole Yokohama only because Dazai was there to take him in when he most needed. Kunikida in the other hand, even if he was annoyed about Dazai and would gladly kill him if he could but he was also really glad he could also work with someone that understood the assignment and even if done weirdly, he was still fond of Dazai. Kyouka never wanted for Dazai to go, same with Yosano but everyone knew, he knows how to deal with Mori more than them. Even Mori is reminded of himself when seeing Dazai. Dazai only came back for his friends to stay safe. So, he wasn't such a bad person overall. Leaving everything behind that he created in the couple of years so that people he now trusted didn't need to live his trauma. 'A man going back in prison' is how Dazai himse lf would explain it.Stepping again in the Port Mafia felt different, now Dazai wasn't there to find out who wanted to buy Atsushi. He was there to work and do old paperwork he thought he never thought he needed to do. He would need to see old coworkers again, but now everyone knew him as someone that he wouldn't be anymore in this workplace. He isn't with Odasaku anymore, he is going to suffer. He also needed to live into a new house but finding a house that can be paid with an underpaid job is really hard. He still isn't given as much money as he should get, his well deserves money would still be used for Port Mafia stuff that has nothing to do with him. He was aware of that, and he couldn't do anything for that. Well now he was needing to get used to that which will make him want to die even more than bevor.
A few months have been already done of just working. He was exhausted, not able to live a life that he wanted to, a life he deserved after everything happened in his life. He wasn't happy, even if he acted like it, he wasn't. It was just something he now did, not because he wanted to act depressed or anything like that. He just did it so much as a kid that is now stuck in his mind and is something he would do without thinking. He also barely spoke to anyone in these few months. He didn't wan t to, mainly Chuuya. Actually, he didn't see that short man since so long Dazai doesn't know if Chuuya still work for the Port Mafia. Like he saw Kyusaku more and Q is currently still held in an isolated room for the safety of everyone. He doesn't care for Chuuya enough to actually go and search him, he would just wait for Chuuya to come back himself, like a good dog. In his free time, he talked with people that were never vampires and don't need any sort of treatment. Everyone that was a vampire or had almost died was now in urgent care by either the port mafia or the hunting dogs as an apology for what the former boss Fukuchi has done to them. Only a two people were able to get well fast, Tachihara and supposedly Chuuya. So, there weren't that many people to talk to, he was glad Kouyou never became a vampire so he could talk with someone that isn't Mori.
The Brunette always found himself going to the place where his friend died. Maybe because of memories. Maybe because he wanted to be there and tell Oda how he can escape this place without anyone caring as much. The building was abandoned and in a really bad shape, reason why he was able to talk so freely about it all without worrying for someone listening. Well, he knew someone else was always listening to him, Paul Verlaine. He knew that man never left and kept on watching him, but he can't be that bothered. Paul couldn't do anything against it, he is jus there to obverse, not to stop. The biggest reason why Dazai made sure that Verlaine could be able to listen to him and maybe help him. Dazai wanted something more than leaving the Port Mafia, he wanted to steal the book so that he could give it to Atsushi. He wanted Sigma back how much Atsushi did. But for now, he needs to keep on suffering in his 'new' job until he finds a way to leave with the book.
More months have passed, adding them up it would make around 5 months. 5 months since Dazai agreed to work for the Port Mafia. 5 months since Chuuya was missing and 5 moths since Paul has been 'stalking' Dazai. Dazai was done. Mentally and physically. He is a person who can't really see the difference between good and bad, he sees it all in one line. But even this, redoing everything he did as a teen. It didn't feel right, being in the Port Mafia without Oda j ust never felt right. And now he is doing what his best friend was doing, he isn't killing anyone. He still managed to be really high with power, but he himself will never kill again. He still wants to somewhat make Oda proud. Even if by now it was clear, Oda was always proud and became happier knowing that his friend turned back to something so that his friends wouldn't suffer. But Dazai doesn't know that he can only guess and hope. He was only happy if he made Odasaku proud and now he doesn't know. He is disgusted by the Port Mafia and gets even more disgusted when the day pass. Everything done there is pure heartlesslike him, but he hates it. He hates it with a burning passion. He thankfully got closer to do his plan. He just needs to find the right time and hopefully everything that has now happened would feel like a stupid childish nightmare he now for sure doesn't need to relive again.
"And it's now 1 year. You're still stuck here? What about the promise" Paul said, sipping on his tea looking at Dazai with a smirk on his face. Dazai just stood quiet, looking at his paperwork. Surprisingly he was really calm after everything that Paul has said. It's been 2 months since Chuuya was found dead after using Corruption, no one knew when or why he did it. After that death no one knew what to do. Dazai didn't seem to care, for him it was an old dog dying, and he didn't like dogs so why should he care about Chuuya. It's just a dog for him. Paul was also unbothered by all, he did try to kill his own brother many years ago, so he is okay with him dying, just sipping his tea not caring. Chuuya's death was still bad, as there were still no informations about how he died and why he wanted to use Corruption, this is why the Port Mafia did a funeral a month ago, even some of the ADA appeared to give some flowers or just show some respect. Kenji was the most hurt by all of this, looking up to Chuuya and just wanting to be like him except the killing. He wasn't given the informations on how Chuuya died, but he knew his idol was dead and it was one of the worst thing that can happen to him. He was crying the whole time, no one could ever describe how upset he was. A deep depression season was happening to Kenji and thinking about Chuuya dying didn't make it better. He wasn't allowed to look inside the casket, he was too young for that. Even after everything else he lived through, Chuuya's corpse was one of the worst corpses some people have ever seen. Dazai didn't attend the funeral. At least not so that he could be seen by coworkers and ex-coworkers. He still deeply wanted to have Chuuya found before he ever lost control, if he was just there for his old partner. Kenji would be happy, no one would need to be so upset and he didn't need to listen to Chuuya's older brother being an asshole.
Talking about the older brother, he and Dazai were finally able to actually talk. It started before Chuuya's death, they got close enough to actually steal the book, but it wasn't close enough. Thankfully they never got caught, they just needed now reasons for Dazai to leave. That was harder to think, even if there were more than enough, they're still seen as not enough for Mori. "There needs to be a reason for Mori to kick you out", "there probably is one..." Dazai was deep in thought about that. Both were again at the place in which Oda died, that place was the best place for the guys to talk. While thinking they usually clean up the place or add flowers. It was Dazai's idea and because Paul is having a good time he joined.
Paul only started helping because he wanted. He has no clear reason why he should help; he just wants to. He keeps on saying the reason is that it's boring all alone and nothing really happens, so helping someone escape was thrilling.
"Isn't he scared you will kill him one day? Why not trying to kill him while I get the book?" Paul suggested, not paying attention to what he is saying. He was too busy taking apart a Spiderweb. "That Idea is so simple it could work. If he doesn't have any other ideas then let's do it" Dazai joked, making sure the flowers would lay perfect. He also is making sure that there would be a small place full of flowers just for Chuuya. He was also laughing at that 'joke'. He was so aware that it would be the most perfect plan. That plan was indeed the best plan. Paul made sure that Q was out, making everyone worry about getting Kyusaku back. The dangerous child was causing pain to people, soldiers trying to find Dazai, but he seemed to be missing so it was their work to get Q back without them dying, or at least not severely injured. Meanwhile Dazai being taken away, for why? For almost stabbing Mori's heart. Mori was brought to the infirmary, laughing about Dazai attempted murder. Dazai in the meantime felt awesome, he felt like he was newborn. Happy he was able to hurt someone that he hated with his heart, he hated mori and he wasn't afraid to show it at all. He wanted to stab mori again and again, he wanted to continue for years. Still now taken away to go to the basement, to the prison he remembered fighting Chuuya after years of not seeing each other. He was going to stay there until he would get picked up.
Verlaine stole the book, hiding it from everyone with his ability and helping to get Kyusaku so people wouldn't think he is being lazy or that he was doing something bad. He was glad it all worked out and that no one was going to see for now the book missing. He was now going to try and get Dazai, which will be an easy job until Mori is still in care and he wouldn't send Elise to pay attention no one would come in or come out of the room. And thankfully she wasn't there yet. He needed to act fast.
Someone knocked on the front door of the Armed Detective Agency. Atsushi opened the door seeing no one around, almost closing the door he noticed something on the ground. It didn't seem anything special, so Atsushi picked it up. Opening he noticed a note and started reading it, it was really short and badly written, like it was on a rush.
'see you soon Atsushi ;P have fun with the book and give it back to Mori!!'
Atsushi is finally Able To get Sigma back.
