"See ya Liam!" Niall yelled as he walked into the room.
"Where have you been?!" I asked.
Niall raised his eyebrows. "Why so fancy Mr. Styles?" he answered completely ignoring my question. His eyes scanned me up and down, lips turning into a smirk.
"Don't tell me you forgot" I answered blushing a little. His confused face answered my statement."The Headmaster's tea?"
"Oh yeah I knew that..." he mumbled.
Niall quickly picked up his belongings in the big pile of clothes at the end of his bed and ran into the bathroom to change.
He came out seconds later. "Can you?" he asked gesturing to his tie.
I let out a sigh and helped him. "To think you'd be old enough to do this yourself."
"Never said I couldn't." he replied giving me a wink as he left the room.

Everything seemed to be going smoothly. Niall obviously sucking up to the Masters by talking about the little he knew about the war. He gets into a deep conversation with Mr. Holms and his wife about the bombings in Europe. As for me, I listen with amazement wondering how he seems to get everyone to love him.
"Mr. Horan you're something else." said Mrs. Holms. "It was very nice to meet you."
"It was nice meeting you to." Niall replied as he kissed the back of her hand making me roll my eyes.
We started back to our room in an awkward silence which was soon, but not unexpectedly broken by Niall.
"Lets go jump into the river."
"You're kidding right?" I replied.
He didn't answer, instead her leaned against me as we walked, directing me unwillingly toward the gym and the river. "We need to clear our heads of that party," he said and slung his arm around my neck.
"Yeah it sure was boring. Who did most of the talking anyway?"
Niall concentrated. "Mr. Holms was pretty talkative, and his wife, and ..."
"Mhm, and?"
He turned to me with a look of shock, "Wait, you're not saying that I talked too much?"
"You? Talk too much? Why would I possibly think that?" I replied. As I said, this was my sarcastic summer. It was only long after that I recognized sarcasm as the protest of people who are weak.
"Its not my fault. I'm just a people person I guess." He answered simply as he started walking again.
And that he was, he would talk to anyone about anything if they were willing to listen which they usually always were.
We walked across the endless green playing fields watching four boys dressed in all white walking to the tennis courts. To the right was the main gym where all the main school games were held. Beyond the gym began the acres of forest that was said to stretch across England to the border of Scotland but no one was able to see the other end. We reached the river as the sun was setting.
After we swam around in the water for a while Niall said, "Will you do me the honor of jumping out of the tree first?'
"My pleasure." I replied confidently.
I started up the rungs, slightly reassured by having Niall right behind me. "We'll jump together," he said. "We should form a suicide society, and the membership requirement is to jump out of the tree."
"A suicide society?," I said stiffly. "The Suicide Society of the Summer Session."
"I like that."
We stood on the limb, I a little farther out that Niall. I turned to him to say some remark to stall the jump, something to delay even a few seconds more. I turned a little to fast and began to loose my balance. I started to panic as I attempted to regain my balance. My panic had immediately disappeared when Niall's hand shot out and grabbed my arm. He pulled me towards him and the safety of the trunk of the tree.
"Oh my god, Harry are you alright? Maybe this was a bad idea.." he rambled his crystal blue eyes staring straight into my green orbs still holding onto my arm.
There was a moment of silence where we just looked at each other then I turned back toward the river, moved a few more steps along the limb, sprang far out and fell into the deep water. Niall followed closely after and the Suicide Society of the Summer Session was officially established.
It was only after dinner, when I was on my way alone to the library, that the full danger I had experienced on the limb shook me again. If Niall hadn't come up right behind me ... if he hadn't been there ... I could have fallen on the bank and broken my back. If I had fallen awkwardly enough I could have been killed.
Niall had practically saved my life.
