It burned. It burned so much.
I know we were bad, but it wasn’t our fault!
That virus ruined it! It ruined nap time,
Ruined Moon, ruined our image!
We scared people. No one liked us. Not even the other animatronics.
Then Gregory came along. We scared him.
So he eventually left. Not before lighting the place on fire.
At least I think that’s what happened.
Moon was out when it happened.
I waited and waited. Moon didn’t say anything to me.
He usually complains a lot, so naturally I worried!
Then the Moon set, and I was out again.
The daycare was in flames.
I tried to get away. Really, I did!
But our body was already melted.
Moon had tried to protect us. Got us to our tower.
The fire was there, too. The fire was everywhere.
It seemed like no matter where I looked. It was there.
I know robots don’t feel things, but it hurt.
I hear the daycare theme. It’s not comforting anymore.
It’s all glitched, like the old arcade cabinet we have.
It hurt everywhere. I couldn’t even open my eyes anymore.
Everyone hated me, even in death.
They stopped by the daycare before leaving.
They didn’t even try to save me. Save us.
I sent one final message to my friend.
“Goodnight Moon.”

Memory Log #498-M

When the Sun sets, I come out.
I’m just programmed like that.
One of us is out at all times.
We even hear one another at all times.
Sun talks a lot. So it should have tipped me off when he didn’t.
But we had just argued, so why would he?
I tried to go out, but everything was locked.
It was logical, as the place is closed. But Vanny told me I have to find that kid.
I can’t disobey her. She would hurt me or even Sun if I did.
Nothing worked. Even trying to smash it didn’t help.
Then the fire came. The Mega PizzaPlex was on fire and it spread to the daycare.
There are no fire extinguishers in places we are allowed to go.
The only fire extinguisher is the desk, and we aren’t allowed back there.
Our programming forbids it. Can’t go within a feet of it.
I heard some security bots powering down. The fire was that close.
The fire was spreading and it was quick.
The plexiglass has melted off the frame. I could leave. But…
I went to the top of the towers. The fire was there waiting for me.
Yes, it burned. It burned with every step I took.
I quickly gathered children’s drawings. All I could before I couldn’t do anything.
Of course I could be repaired. But who would?
What with our history and all. Scaring children.
It didn’t matter if it was a virus. We would still be a liability.
I sent one final message to my other half.
“Goodnight, Sun.”
