"Edmund! Wherefore art thou?" A familiar voice rang out in a Shakespearean accent. Eddie groaned as he was awoken from his sleep. He was irritated but he was happy it was Richie irritating him. Eddie wandered over to his window, looking out and seeing a lanky boy outside his window, Richie of course, he knew this. He looked up and waved at Eddie with a smile.
"Will you shut the fuck up?" Eddie shouted.
"Did you just wake up, Eds?" Richie said noticing his hair was ruffled up and he was still wearing his pajamas. "We have to go like....now."
"Shit. I'll be out in ten minutes."
"We'll be late, can't you get ready faster?"
"Nope. Who cares if we're late?"
"Damn Eds, I didn't know you were such a bad boy." Eddie rolled his eyes and disappeared from the window before coming back moments later.
"Don't call me that." He said sternly, pointing down at Richie. Richie just smirked in response and waited for Eddie to finish getting ready. He walked along the curb as if it was a balance beam, he pivoted and heard the gravel hiss underneath his converse. Eventually Eddie exited his house wearing a striped sweater and a toothy smile.
"Oh look who decided to show up." Richie smiled over at him, looking at the way the sweater hung loosely on his shoulders, admiring everything about the boy in front of him.
"Shut up, Rich." Eddie scoffed, but that smile followed indicating the playful tone.
"Never!" Richie exclaimed dramatically, like a super villain. "Hey I have an idea."
"That's never a good sign." Eddie sighed "Let's hear it."
"What if we just...didn't go to school?" Richie proposed, he gave Eddie a look and wiggled his eyebrows.
"Are you serious? No fucking way! We cannot do that! My mom will go berserk." Eddie argued, his eyebrows were furrowed and his mouth was slightly agape after he finished speaking.
"Hear me out Eds, what if you....didn't tell her?" Richie mocked, miming his head exploding.
"No shit, but if she found out, we'd both be dead."
"That's a risk I'm willing to take, Eddie my love." Richie said, booping Eddie on the nose. Eddie scrunched his nose in response, a faint shade of pink creeped onto his face.
"Okay...fine, but...this is a one time thing okay? Never again." Eddie crossed his arms.
"Sure thing, damn I was right you really are a bad boy, Eds." Richie smirked and looked down at the pavement with his hands in his pockets.
"Can it, Richie." Eddie rolled his eyes "Like I said...this is just a one time thing."
"Yeah yeah, that's what they all say." Richie joked looking over at Eddie for his reaction, Eddie let out a stubborn excuse for a laugh but Richie took it as a victory.
"What the hell are we gonna do all day?" Eddie asked, he looked up at the sky, a never ending blue dome, white cotton balls spread generously, it was nice out. Sure it was a bit chilly but nothing they couldn't handle.
"Maybe we just walk." Richie suggested. He removed his hands from his pockets to shrug before launching them right back in after the bitter cold nipped at his bare skin.
"Where? Just fucking walk all day?" Eddie was too proud to admit he'd been thinking the same thing, what else would they do? It was nice to just be in each other's company with synchronized laughs barreling through the autumn air, the occasional "shut up, Richie.", sneakers dragging across the pavement, purposeful brushing of fingertips.
