"Have you seen this?"

I heard a voice behind me as I looked up confused to see one of my workmates with a very expressionless face.

"Zombies......" he said as he walked up to my desk. I looked at him and raised my eyebrows in confusion. "What are you talking abo-" he cut me off and throws a newspaper in my desk.

I grabbed the paper and the headline and the content itself immediately caught my attention.

"ZOMBIES! DEAD RISE!"

"State of Kentucky Placed on High Alert."

"City of Louisville Streets Cautious."

"What on earth is going on in Kentucky?" I thought deeply to myself. "The heck is this about? Isn't it just some contagious influenza virus outbreak that happened in that state right? What's up with the zombie thing?" I asked him.

"That is what they are calling them...." He said while looking outside the window as I just looked at him not being able to comprehend what I have read and heard.

I ended up zoning out as I just sat on my desk in an expressionless state. I was in deep thought as silence covered the entire room. No one said a word until I realized something and it hit me hard. "Fuck!" I cursed myself suddenly.

"Jake, what about our families?" I asked him out loud as I tried my best to keep myself calm. You see my entire family lives in that state specifically in West Point and I haven't heard from them in weeks even If I have sent a lot of messages to them I still haven't received a response.

Jake just looked up to me and sighs. I was about to grab my phone but he stopped me from doing it. I looked at him confused.

"It's no use, communications have been cut out entirely in the entire state for no reason." he suddenly said.

Okay...

What the fuck..
