A mother with her two young daughters, are cuddled together taking refuge from the disaster outside. They can hear the shooting of the guns and the screams of their friends. But, what scares Alaya the most is the whimpering of her family. How clearly terrified her mother and big sister are. How terrified she is.

A sudden explosion goes off nearby and before Gamora can put her hand over her mouth, Alaya let's out a high pitched scream.

The door is burst open by the invaders and the three are grabbed before they can even attempt to run. One soldier grabs both young children while another forces their mother in the opposite direction.

Both girls scream for their mother as loud as they possibly can over the sound of others dying around them. They hit and kick the guard holding them until he lets go. Gamora takes Alaya's hand in hers, making sure they don't get separated too.

"Where's mama gone, Gamora?" She just looks at her before pulling her closer for her safety. "I shouldn't have screamed. I'm sorry." Alaya looks down at the ground with tears threatening to fall.

Gamora places her hands on her shoulders, causing her to look up at her in regret. "This is not your fault. You did not do this."

Before Alaya could respond, she noticed a strange purple man (grape) over her sisters shoulder, staring at them. Gamora followed her eye line and both girls became quiet as the younger of the two latching onto the other's arm. She stared shyly at the man (grape) with a mix of fear and childlike curiosity as he carefully approached them both.

"What's wrong, little ones?" He had calmly asked the two scared children.

"Our mother! Where is our mother?" Gamora said on behalf of them both. She could see that her sister seemed slightly more frightened. 'She is younger than me' she thought.

"What are your names?"

Gamora thought for a few moments on whether she should really say anything else to this man, but what harm could telling him their names really do? "I'm Gamora. This is my sister..." she looked at her sister to give her the chance to introduce herself.

"I'm Alaya." Alaya said, trying to act more confident than she really felt in that moment.

"You're quite the fighters, Gamora and little Alaya." Alaya tilted her head at him, with narrowed eyes, for calling her 'little' but didn't argue as she couldn't deny it was very true. Especially from his point of view, she imagines. "Come, let me help you." He said in a surprisingly kind voice. You could see the internal debate going on in both of their heads before Gamora reached up and wrapped her hand around his large index finger. Alaya hesitated for half a second before following her sisters lead, and took hold of the finger on his other hand. Always stick together. Their mother's voice rings in her head.

He led them both, each sister holding tightly onto one finger, under a shelter not to far from where the soldiers were lining everyone else up. "Look." he instructed, while taking out something very pretty, in Alaya's opinion, and unsheathing the dual blades, one on either side. "Pretty, isn't it?" Alaya nodded quickly. "Perfectly balanced, as all things should be." He balanced it on his finger. "Too much to one side, or the other..." he tilts it to either side before letting it drop from his finger, before catching it quickly. "Here, you try." He gives the object to Gamora before taking out a pretty green version of it and giving it carefully to Alaya. Gamora's blade was the colour of both their hair, but Alaya still preferred her beautiful green blade.

Suddenly, gunfire and screams are heard, but Thanos places himself to block the veiw from Alaya and uses his hand to turn Gamora's head away from the commotion. "Uh uh, concentrate. There, you've got it." It takes Alaya a few seconds longer to balance it but when she does she smiles and looks at her sister and then up at the big man in front of them.

Both were adopted by the Mad Titan, after he killed half of their species, the Zehoberei.

Although younger, Alaya got the same training as Gamora, and can be said to be just as lethal, sometimes even more so. Thanos did start moulding her into a weapon at the mere age of 6, a much more susceptible age than her 11 year old sister. However, not too young that she doesn't remember the life Thanos ripped from her when her mother was murdered.

As a young child, Alaya would often have to watch Gamora and Nebula spar against each other, so she could learn what to do and what not to do in a fight against someone as formidable as her sister, until she was old enough to join in.

Other times she would very often train hard with Ronan or Thanos when he believed she was ready or old enough to become as dangerous a weapon as her sisters. She became a master combatant - an expert in all things martial arts - and a master marksman very quickly, becoming an extremely advanced assassin and soon one of the most dangerous women in the galaxy.

When Alaya was 15 years old Thanos had her left eye pulled out and left her with an empty eye socket. She was 16 when Thanos finally had a bionic eye put in her eye socket that allows her to see out of two eyes again. Now one eye is brown and the fake one is blue.

You can still see the faded scars around her eye socket from when Thanos did this to her. And she can still remember how much she screamed and bled when it was taken out.
