A green light comes from the locked container and you realize this is it. One drop of your blood and all this nightmare would soon come to an end. You could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and a chance of a normal life is once more within your reach.

"We're going to be free! Can you believe it?" You say, excited to be sharing this moment with the person you love most in the whole world. Before she has time to respond, you sprint towards the metal box in the middle of the room, hoping that Hanji would follow closely behind.

"ARE YOU READY?" Moblit screams from the other room. As you place the necklace on the keyhole, you give your girlfriend the sign so she can yell back in response.

"Are you ready?" Hanji repeats the question, wanting this moment to be perfect for you.

"Yes." You respond, a wide smile taking over your features. In response, she flashes you a bright smile of her own and it is the most beautiful thing you have ever seen in your entire life. It's a different kind of smile than the one you are used to, it's infectious.

"WE'RE ALL SET." She yells back at him, louder than it had to be out of pure excitement.

"3, 2, 1." Moblit counts to make sure you turn the key at the exact same time the button has been pressed. Immediately, the metal box opens with a hissing sound and a decent amount of smoke. It looked nearly like something out of a movie.

Carefully, you reach inside to find a glass cylinder and, in it, a green liquid, just like the holographic image of your mother said. This is it, the answer to all your problems: the cure to eliminate all of the undead.

As you shift your vision, you notice that a smile has taken over Hanji's features, it is as bright as the sun and it could easily overtake the green light coming from the vial. It brings a smile of your own out and you can't help but feel something you haven't in so long, hope.

Slowly, you place the vial into the old amazon cardboard box, the fit is a little tight but it's enough to hold the container into place so the liquid won't be at any risk of spilling or breaking the glass before you have time to complete the solution.

"Now we put it in the backpack?" Hanji asks, opening the bag and you nod, delicately sealing the box shut with the blue painters' tape you found lying around, not strong enough to seal it shut forever but enough that the box won't have any risk of coming undone.

"Let's go back to the boys and we can start planning our escape." You say, placing the bag on your back. Hanji smiles, extending her hand while silently craving for your contact. You shake your head but, with a smile, you gladly take her offer.

As you are going through the abandoned metal halls, a loud bang comes from the opposite direction you are walking towards and you can't help but stop in your tracks. You and Hanji share a look as she silently begs you to not go investigate.

"What if it's a survivor?" You whisper, tugging on her hand but she doesn't budge.

"y/n, how the fuck would anyone survive in here for two years?" She points out and you widen your eyes, arching your eyebrows as you look away, moving your lips from one side to another. Maybe she is right, maybe it's just a few rats. "Plus we are unarmed, what if they are zombies?"
