A dull headache is what Aloisa wakes up with the next morning.

She doesn't wish to move, her eyelids heavy and the warmth of her bed quite favorable over the rest of her chilly apartment.

Unfortunately, however, she can't stay wrapped up in the comfort of cotton blankets all day.

Lifting her hand, she looks at the bandages plastered over its backside where Kai clawed it the day before.

Every couple of hours, she must replace them to prevent infection.

It's an annoyance, yes, but she doesn't blame him for it. After all, she was the one who grabbed him so suddenly and recklessly.

Additionally, he already expressed his guilt for wounding her after he finally warmed up, holding her index finger between his tiny paws and whimpering between apologetic licks.

Admittedly, it made her smile.

Pushing her sheets aside, she grits her teeth when her feet meet the cold hardwood floor.

The issue with this apartment is that the heater only really keeps the first floor warm. She relies on bundling up in blankets and thick sweaters when she's upstairs.

She supposes it isn't the worst. Usually, apartments don't even have two floors — especially for the money she's paying to live here — but the landlord guaranteed her a fair price for it, as long as she's willing to put up with occasionally getting snowed in during the winter. This particular complex is more susceptible to the possibility of it due to its location.

Granted, the second floor is only a bedroom and bathroom with a small hall between the two rooms, but Aloisa accepted the deal without a second thought.

Yawning, she carries on with her morning routine and heads downstairs.

With a broom.

"Just incase," she tells herself. She trusts Kai for the most part, but it never hurts to be safe.

Only a couple steps down the stairway, the oversized clothes she left on the couch for Kai become visible, still neatly folded.

I guess he hasn't turned, she thinks, frowning at the untouched clothing.

It's still the early hours of morning, only bits of light emanating from behind the blinds.

Her voice breaks the silent atmosphere of the room. "Hello?"

"Mrw..."

A small figure pops out from between two decorative pillows on the couch.

"Good morning," Aloisa greets him quietly, pulling her baby-blue cardigan tighter around her shoulders. "Are you hungry?"

She's a tad embarrassed of her current attire, both her T-shirt and pajama pants branded with cartoon characters.

Though, Kai doesn't seem to care so much. She takes his cheerful mewl as a yes to her question.

"Reow!"

His fur is still frizzy from when she bathed him last night, sticking to the pillow as he rubs against it and rolls around as he pleases.

A vein throbs in her forehead when she opens the blinds, met with pure white and nothing else.

They're snowed in.

"Gosh," she mumbles, chewing at the inside of her cheek.

Work isn't a problem — she can do plenty on her computer and save what needs to be done at the office for later.
