My shoulder collides with the front door of my old house as I shove my way in from the brisk winter air. The weather in my hometown has been ridiculous this month; one day it is sunny and birds chirping, the next it is raining and severe weather, then back to nice spring, then we are 20 degrees and dropping with a wind chill of 2 and a severe winter storm on the way. My hands are chapped and sore from the air and my toes feel frozen solid despite my two layers of socks.

"How are the roads?" Colby asks, coming towards me from the kitchen, dish towel in his hand.

"Slick, and of course people aren't adjusting how they drive to accommodate the weather," I grumble.

"Because that would make sense," he says, knowing my disdain for the way people drive in bad weather. It is not that hard people, slow the fuck down, and for the love of God- do not slam on your breaks if you hit a patch of ice.

"Work wasn't any better," I continue my rant. "People decided that it was Armageddon and had to have all their documents today in the event we are closed."

"Right because you can prepare them all that fast and it's not like appointments aren't a thing."

"Definitely not."

"Hot bath and wine?" Colby suggests, pulling me into his arms and I almost melt from his warmth.

"Absolutely," my body relaxes, and I fight the heavy sigh making its way to my lips as he runs his hands over my shoulders, forcing my winter jacket down.

"I'll take your things and get you a glass while you get in," he says, placing a quick kiss to my lips.

I don't have to be told twice before I am on my way to the bathroom. The bathroom is nice and warm, the small space heater in the corner warming up the small bathroom perfectly. I search the linen closet for a soft wintery candle and light it. Once I have set the bath water to my desired temperature, I reach under the sink to grab for the bubble bath. I move to the mirror while the tub fills and the bubbles spread, I need to take off my makeup before I get too relaxed. The door opens as I stand from stepping out of my pants, and I feel a hand on my hip.

"Your wine in on the side of the tub," his voice is soft, and I smile when he reaches down to pull me sweater off me. "Relax as long as you need, I will check on you in a moment."

"But," my lips pouts and I continue when I get a "What" look from him. "Won't you keep me company? I just wanna be near you after today."

"I have some emails to get back to, and then I will be in here, deal?"

I nod, satisfied with this compromise and allow him to help me step into the tub. This time I don't fight the small moan of a sigh that escapes me. The warm water almost singes the first layer of skin off my toes, and I am in heaven. Colby waits until I am settled before asking if I need anything else. I promise that I will call for him if I need anything else and he kisses me once more before leaving me to my relaxing bath.

My legs stretch out and I lean back slowly, adjusting to the burn of the water crawling up my back. I reach for the scrunchy I looped on my wrist and gather my hair up into a careful messy bun on the top of my head. Once all the hair is secure, I lower myself into the water so that it is up to the nape of my neck. God this feels so good. I breathe in a slow deep breath and release it even slower in an attempt to loosen the tension in my shoulders. Why do people have to be so hateful when the weather changes? Why do people have to drive in such a hurry?
