They say the human's heart is the most deceiving of all: one day you're in love, the next you're out of it. You can be the person with the most love on earth but, in time, that love slowly fades away.
Keira, who thought falling out of love was never gonna happen to her, eventually got tired of a long-distance love affair.
It was never her intention, the thought never even came across her mind. But as the days and months passed, time and space has become a barrier.
Yes, people might say, 'If you love someone, distance will never be an issue" but that just doesn't work with everyone else. Atleast not with Keira and Gian.
It has only been 7 months since Gian was gone, but it felt a really long time for them both.
"Hey.." Keira greeted as she answered Gian's skype call.
Keira has prepared herself for this day: when she's finally picked up the strength and courage to tell Gian the truth about how she feels. Cold sweat is coming out of her palms as her heart thumps of nervousness.
She has no idea of Gian's reaction and she doesn't want to see Gian hurt. But she knows, if she's kept this a little longer, there will be more pain between them.
"Hi." Gian softly answered.
"So, how's your exam going? Are you able to review well?" He asked."Uhm, yeah.. doing good.. I'm doing okay.. been busy with my thesis as well lately.." Keira responded.
"I see.." Gian paused.
Keira looks at the computer screen, finding the right moment to open up about their situation.. and after a few minutes of silence,
"Kei.." Gian called.
"I know it hasn't been so long since we got to know each other and... eventually got physically separated.. and I know this kind of set up.. it's.." Gian sighed.
He himself doesn't know how to bring his words up. He kept stuttering, his mind keeps going blank. The words he wanted to say just won't come out.He was too afraid to hurt Keira. He knows for himself how much he likes Keira, and he knows Keira had been true to him. But this distance is not something he can easily just overcome.
"It's just too hard for the both of us to keep up.." he added.
Keira looks at Gian through the screen, biting her lip, trying to stop herself from tearing up.
"I don't want us to end this way.. but with the way things are right now, I think it's best for us to... Focus on ourselves.." Gian said with his head down.
Keira took a deep breath and slowly breathed out.
"I get what you mean and I also believe what you said is right.." Keira said.
"I know our situation is not and will never be easy.."
Gian looks at her through the computer screen, his eyes filled with pain and worry for the girl in front of him.
If only he can reach Keira right now and hug her with the tightest way he could.
"Atleast we tried, right?" Keira said with a smile as a tear fell down her cheek.
Gian chuckled and nodded as his tears started to flow out his eyes.
He reached out gis hands towards the screen, as if touching Keira's cheeks filled with her own tears.
Silence filled their conversation, just the two of them looking at eachother with thousands of miles separating them.
"I hope you know that I will always love you, no matter what." Gian said.
Keira nods her head as she covered her face and cried. She never thought it was going to be this painful. It was too painful to break up with someone who did nothing wrong.
It was really just because of mere distance. It may look so simple, but very complicated: talking with a computer screen for months, with the time difference and life pace. It was just too hard for two young minds and hearts to actually be able to maturely handle this kind of situation.
Knowing that your love doesn't end unnoticed and continuing to love the person in a different way is the best closure Keira and Gian could give eachother.
Love doesn't always need to be felt in a romantic way. Love can be felt for anyone and any kind of way.
Love is when you care for someone's wellbeing, hoping the best for them, allowing them to be free to do what they want and what they love without holding them back.
Love is allowing a person to grow on their own even if it meant growing apart.
And if you are meant to be together, time and destiny will and always bring you back together no matter what.
These are the things Keira and Gian try to take a hold of: a hope that what's meant to be will be for them both no matter the distance and time they are apart.
