"Let go of me you swine!" I snapped as Alec dragged me out of the throne room and into the reception area. "No!" I growled as I stomped my feet around, desperately trying to connect with his foot.
"Would you stop that," he sighed irritably as my foot collided harshly with his, sending a ripple of pain up my leg. "You can't hurt me, you'll only hurt yourself."
I ignored his warning and continued to thrash around in his grip. I could feel his hold on my arm get firmer and firmer the more I angered him. But my rage was blind, forming a red haze in front of the logical part of my brain, and I could not acknowledge that I was perhaps putting myself in greater danger.
I flung my free arm up to try and hit him, only for him to catch it. The action immediately made me freeze as I whimpered. "Humans," he scoffed, his eyes immediately darkening. "So breakable," he mused as he released my hand, allowing me to cradle it close to my chest. "Now, you're going to come with me, and you're going to come without a fuss."
I was on my way to conceding when the receptionist's voice entered our conversation. "Excuse me, excuse me, Mr Alec," her voice shook with nerves. "I have a phone call for you. She says it's important. It's a Miss Alice Cullen."
At the mention of Alice's name my head whipped over to the receptionist holding up a phone. "ALICE!" my voice bellowed. "Alice! Help me! Alice please!" I roared.
"Be quiet!" Alec snapped, jostling my body, but I kept yelling. "Hang up that phone," he ordered the receptionist calmly, her eyes widened and she immediately hung up and phone and timidly sat back down in her seat.
"No," I breathed as a sob wracked through my body.
Alec's grip on my arm loosened slightly in response to my distress and I used this opportunity to turn and look at him.
"Please. Please, just let me go," I pleaded. His hands immediately released their grip on my arm and I stumbled out of his hold.
I didn't turn to look back at him. I didn't turn around to ask why he'd released me. I just took off running the way they'd brought me in. If I could find my way to the garage I'd be free.
As I turned the third corner I came to a screeching halt as I found Alec leaned up against a wall waiting for me.
"What the..." I stuttered as I looked around. How could he have caught up so quickly?
"That's a neat little trick you've got there," he scowled as he straightened. "But I can't let you leave."
I turned around to retreat back the way I came, determined to find another way out, only to see him already standing in front of me. I let out a screech in shock. "How?"
"Vampire," he rolled his eyes as though it was obvious.
A reminder of what he was was all I needed for the fear to flood back into my veins. "Please don't kill me," I breathed as a tear fell from my eye.
Alec reached forward to catch the tear on his finger and looked at it sceptically before wiping it off on my sleeve. "We won't be killing you. Aro wants to keep you."
"I don't want to be kept."
"Well, we don't always get what we want," he muttered as he grabbed my arm, much firmer than he had previously done and yanked me down the hallway, back past the receptionist, and up to a room that would serve as mine. "All yours," he mocked as he shoved my body through the doorway. "Try not to make a nuisance of yourself human."
I darted my eyes around the room frantically before lunging for an ornate plate on my right, picking it up, and hurling it at his head. It smashed over his head and he did not so much as flinch.
